Anyone want to share their vinyl collection?

Did you watch the BBC Fleetwood Mac night a couple of days ago? I wasn’t going to watch it as they always seem to be on Sky Arts but, once it was on I found myself watching it. I rather take their music for granted because it’s so good and so catchy and I forget just how technically brilliant it is. I’ve got lots of Stevie Nicks cd’s that a friend copied for me years ago that I haven’t actually listened to.

Nice to meet you! Unfortunately, I did not see it. I’m American and only watch BBC on occasion. I love Stevie Nicks. Maybe this is a good reminder to enjoy those now! I have seen her in concert and she is fabulous. If she ever comes your way, maybe you could catch her.

It said in one of the documentaries that Stevie Nicks was 29 and about to give up trying to forge a career in music when she joined Fleetwood Mac. Even though she’d already written so many great songs. I hadn’t really realised how good a guitarist Lindsey Buckingham is.

Yes, he is. Fleeteood Mac wanted him, but he would only accept if they took Stevie too. They actually have an album together called Buckingham/Nicks. If you look at the cover you’ll see how young they were.

My favourite song of theirs is actually Tusk. I love the video for it, too.

Good one! They’re all so good though thst I can’t choose. I also love one by Stevie called Sleeping Angel. It was never as popular as some of them, but it’s a good one. It was on the soundtrack of Fast Times at Ridgemont High…lol.

What other groups do you like?

Currently more into folk music, which I’ve always loved. Dug my best of Tom Petty cd out the other day though. And looking forward to Neil Young playing at Glastonbury this year.

Tom Petty is a great artist! Folk is good when you’re in the mood.

I still have a few vinyl records left from the 1950s and 60s, I think one of my favourites is Waddya Wanna Make Those Eyes at me For, by Emile Ford and the Checkmates, dating from 1959, and it still plays OK. Also Personality, by Anthony Newley. I did have a couple of quite old 78s until some idiot trod on them!
I`m afraid all I can name by Fleetwood Mac is Albatross, that was beautiful.

I'm the proud owner of a 1957 juke box, so collect 45's/7"/vinyl.

I've also a stack of LP's, all original from the 60's/70's. There's a poem Pam Ayres wrote on the lines of 'I wish I'd looked After Me Teeth', well, that's how I feel about all my records now

Bit of an aside here, but reading your post led me to think about the lyrics of "What do you wanna make those eyes at me for" and I realised just how appalling and misogynist they are.

My son purloined my collection which included Beatles, Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin, David Bowie, Bob Marley, Tamla Mowtown, Neil Young, Fleetwood Mac, The Who, Pink Floyd amongst others. All gone! Left me with Puccini, Mahler and Tchaicovsky and a few others of a similar vein

Love your taste. Very similar to mine. I am a big fan of Pink Floyd especially. Not to mention that David Gilmore was/still is a fox!

My vinyl collection consists mainly of David Bowie, Elton John, Rod Stewart, Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Simon and Garfunkel and some Tamla Motown which I love.

My son has snaffled one or two for his collection though!

I have quite a lot of 60's and 70's albums, but my best thing is a 78rpm of my Dad's dated 1928. I have a couple of other 78's nut not quite as old as that.

There was a programme on Sky Arts about Elton John's Yellow Brick Road album - supposedly his best, which reminded me that I have his Captain Fantastic and the Dirt Brown Cowboy - great album.
