I have just seen that Rod Stewart is to play on the Legends stage at Glastonbury.

A definite watch for me. On the telly!! I'm nearly as old as Sir Rod!

Skydancer

It’s time he retired.

Plenty of vetran rock stars should certainly retire Skydancer but not Rod! He must have this honour!
I'm not a huge fan of him but he certainly can knock-out a tune!
I think he will go down a storm on the Legend's Stage. He certainly deserves his place right -up there with all the legendary greats.
Plus the crowds will cheer him on in their wonderful, charming effusive way. 😉

I loved Rod in his heyday, but sadly it has passed now.His voice was sadly forever changed when he had serious throat issues a good few years ago now. I’ve still got his early LPs.

Love Rod

He wasn't on my favourites list until I got a ticket to see him from someone who'd been taken poorly, and had a great time.

Then, while on a group holiday on a Greek island one of our number spotted him in a cafe. We all walked past, but none had the audacity to approach him.

I too will be glued to the telly.

I don't think any old rockers should retire if they enjoy what they do and people pay to see them. Rod will go down a storm at Glasto.

Love him, but never seen him live.
His biography /autobiography was brilliant..

One old rocker who still has ‘the’ voice is Robert Plant. Absolutely amazing.

He can't even sing, looks a mess.

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Oh! Ladyleftfieldlover... my love for Robert Plant extends 50 years +, I still go to his concerts.
Lovely to find another Planty fan 👍

Kate1949 Wed 27-Nov-24 09:46:54

I think Rod looks great. I don't know many almost 80 year old men who look that good.

MissAdventure Wed 27-Nov-24 09:48:36

He has matured well, I think.
He looks better now than he did years ago,

Good choice for the Legend slot 👍

Yes, Bridie22, he certainly is, Go Rod, prove all the neah-sayers wrong. 😎

My almost 80 year old has matured well but his voice is rubbish.

Kate1949 Wed 27-Nov-24 10:39:39

So has mine kitty but he doesn't look as good as Rodders but then he doesn't have his money which I'm sure helps.

I’ve been lucky enough to have seen Rod live on a few occasions. He may not be the best singer, but he’s a showman that entertains the audience.

I love his voice, it's quite gravelly but I think he's a really good singer.

Rod has been my pop hero for as long as I can remember, loved all his work over the years and the way his style has adapted. I saw him live in concert at York Race course a few years ago, he was clearly unwell and had a heavy cold, but it was a memorable night and he gave a fabulous performance. Would give my right arm to be at Glastonbury just for that Sunday afternoon!

Bazza Wed 27-Nov-24 15:00:36

I loved him in his hey day, which is how I’d like to remember him, not as an old man of 80 trying to recreate those days. Bit of a cringe for me.

Dcba Wed 27-Nov-24 16:32:40

I saw him onstage about five years ago when he came to Toronto. I really do like him but he didn’t have much stamina then - the show was ‘padded out’ …….supporting performers and his back up singers were very strong and a very talented group and literally carried him vocally during his two shorts sets that he performed. It’s such a shame that these icons of yester-year wear themselves out and show their vulnerability by not knowing when it’s time to gracefully step down from performing. But I do like his music but would never pay to see him perform live again.

Kate1949 Wed 27-Nov-24 16:49:45

Thousands of people pay to see the. Why should they retire? The same goes for others like Paul McCartney. My nephews, who are in their 30s, desperately wanted to go but tickets sold out almost instantly. Doesn't that tell us something. My nephews just want to see a Beatle. They saw the (elderly!!) Rolling Stones a couple of years ago and were thrilled to do so.

kittylester Wed 27-Nov-24 18:04:24

Quite, Kate. I'll be watching.

harrysgran Wed 27-Nov-24 21:51:05

Loved Rod since my teens saw him in concert and he was an amazing

He is - saw him with his Shape Shifters a few years ago, he sounded incredible. I love how his music has evolved but he's still great at the classic Zep songs.

As for Rod, saw him at the Crystal Palace Bowl in 1969 or 70, in his Faces pink suit days. Brilliant. (as were Pink Floyd!)

Sorry but I think his voice has gone the same with Paul McCartney I don’t understand why they keep going when this happens, why don’t they go out on a good note instead of thinking they still sound good 50 years later I think it’s sad
