Dispatches - Russell Brand

My first thought is to be careful what we say. There are too many trials by media these days. Time will discover the truth, hopefully.

I dislike the man and his humour. I am not surprised at the accusations. The police are looking into it and I’m sure we will soon hear from them.

Never have found anything to like about him and am dismayed that he will now be on screen/radio a lot over the next few weeks.

I would prefer that people were 'innocent until proven guilty ' in all cases.

As for the accusations, why do these women leave it so long to tell all,IF it`s even true.

I agree with those who are saying he is unfunny and over rated. I think we should wait until the police have finished their investigation before making any judgements.

As for the women leaving it so long - one of the accusations against him is his controlling behaviour, also I believe at least one woman tried to report him to his employer and/or agent and was told "that's just Russell". Just as I don't think we should rush to judgement on him, we should also not rush to judgement about his accusers

He has always been a deeply deeply sexist man, clothing it in progressive nonsense, however even knowing this I was astounded at the behaviour that was allowed to go unchecked and was frequently rewarded. His behaviour towards the newsreader live on air was foul. She complained and they told brand who then mocked the complaint live on air.

One particular thing that turned my stomach was his offering to take a young woman along with him to visit Jimmy Savile. That says it all for me.

It was an uncomfortable watch, not sure a 90 minute documentary was the correct way to go.

Some women did try to challenge his behaviour live on air, they basically got nowhere, I briefly saw the Questine Time clip, I think it was Caroline Lucas from the Green Party who challenged him really well.

I agree with those who find him unfunny and revolting.
He’s had a huge influence on younger people in the past and should have been binned for his disgusting behaviour long ago.
I remember him on Question Time encouraging youngsters not to vote. He was put firmly in his place by a young man telling him that if we want change then we have to vote.
Now he hides behind his ‘wellness’ blogs. I don’t believe a word. I see him as a perverse and dangerous character and am not surprised by the allegations being made against him.

I have given this more thought, and I do not think that allegations of rape, sexual assault and coercive behaviour should be the subject of a TV documentary.

Surely if Dispatches has/had enough evidence they should have taken it to the police as opposed to broadcasting it as prime time Saturday night entertainment

Not if they are just that, allegations. No if someone tore me down in public without a trial, it wouldn't be fair .
Perhaps inappropriate news would be a better word.
