New drama Life

I’m finding this a bit far fetched in places tbh, but I’ll carry on watching purely because the brilliant Alison Steadman is in it.

A bit more so in the final Kandinsky but, as you say, Alison Steadman could just recite the phone directory and I'd watch her.

Elaine Paige plays a good, but small part, I thought.

Love the casting, music, way it is shot. - And the life lines. For once drama shows some of the tortures that are commonplace. And Alison - HOW can she be so good. Such a demanding part. I'm excessively interested, having been through the experience of learning that the life I thought I was living was not at all what others 'saw'. Very disorientating to have ones past involuntarily re-written. And I know of a man bringing up 'his' daughter... I guess that is not rare.

I'm thoroughly enjoying this, yes it's a bit far fetched, but the acting is good, Alison Steadman is brilliant in every role she plays. I had to watch episode 3 ( I didn't see that coming) last night and I will watch episode 4 tonight.

I know I’m in the minority here, but I thought this was like a soap, and a waste of Alison Steadmans acting talents. The rest of the acting was pretty poor, and a lot of the storylines just didnt ring true. Not for me.

Dh liked it, but I must say most of it just didn’t ring true at all for me - and as for the tired, worn-out cliche of the bride changing her mind at the altar - who didn’t see that coming a mile off?
I only carried on watching at all because of Alison Steadman, but IMO she was wasted on this.

I find it hard to stay awake in this and I was really looking forward to it.

This is sooooo good. Really enjoying it. Two more to watch. It’s funny, because after the first one, I almost felt it could have finished. I said to my husband it’ll now just turn into a soap, but it hasn’t. Superb all the way so far, hope not to be disappointed tonight!

I’m enjoying it. I suspect there are a number of 60 plus ladies that feel very similar to Alison Steadmans character.

I've watched it all and found it pretty predictable and decidedly average.

Take it back?. The last two episodes were predictable, and it just went flat. Still enjoyed it though, if that makes sense?

The only couple / characters I was interested in were Alison Steadman & Peter Davison, not only because they’re great actors ( a lot of the others were a bit wooden ) but their story was the only one that was believable.
I must admit I cried at their last scene together ( big softy that I am )

Gave up after two episodes. So full of cliches and unlikeable people I thought.

Thoroughly enjoyed it and never tire of Alison Steadman.
BUT the "music". It's a long time since I have heard such endless discordant noise used as an almost constant soundtrack. Just the music accompanying the opening titles was enough to deter viewers, I should think.

...just watched episode 4 on catch up...Cant believe how upset am feeling..I'm actually married to one of the characters

Love this series. Best thing that's been on TV for ages. The Alison Steadman/Peter Davison story is by far the best, but I also like the couple with the baby, but you just know what's going to happen there. Can't stand the woman with the lip fillers or the one with the very short hair who likes a drink.

I m loving it too but I do like Belle I think she looks like a young Judi Dench and such a lovely figure
Do you know I never hear the music in dramas I suppose I m concentrating on the story as it completely passes me by
This is the best drama around at the moment for me and enjoying it very much

Yes: Belle was my favourite too.

There’s been another thread about Life and a few said how good the music is.

I loved the series and the music which is by Elbow. IMO very well written poignant lyrics and sung by writer and lead singer Guy Garvey.

I do appreciate that we all have different tastes but I really enjoyed it.

Thoroughly enjoyed it, watched them all on Iplayer......yes. Alison Steadman and Peter Davison played their parts very well indeed.
