Anyone watching the new series? I only recently realised why Diana Rigg was in it; her daughter plays Mackenzie Crookes wife. The end of episode one, with the singing etc sent shivers down my spine; it was magical.

I didn't see the previous series, but this one is beginning to grow on me. The settings, the wildlife and the music all add to the languid, laid-back, very English feel of it. Not a lot happens, but it's quite absorbing all the same. A refreshing change from pushy US drama/comedy or shouty comedians.

I have just started to watch this series as i bought a new tv which allows me to have BBC Iplayer, i am loving it, my DH pretends not to like it and even though he is using the computer he is passing comments about the prog so obviously taking note of what is going on. The characters in it are priceless it is pure fun, so gentle and absorbing. Wish i knew a bunch of people like those in it, life would be hilarious!!! lol.smile

Last summer OH and I stood watching them filming at Framlingham where much of it is set. They were filming some scenes in the scout hut where their ‘group’ meet which is right by the castle. Very low key, like the programme, and interesting to watch.

I got a boxed set of all three series of The Detectorists for Xmas. It's the first boxed set I've ever had, in fact I've never had many videos or dvds, but I'm really enjoying watching an episode whenever I have a spare half hour.

It's great to see a clever, gentle British comedy so well written, well cast with great actors, beautifully filmed in Essex (but miles away from The Only Way is Essex). I wish there were more series like this.

Yes; it sort of gives you a 'warm fuzzy feeling' watching it, doesn't it! Gosh; watching one every so often shock; you must be the sort of person that buys a box of chocolates and eats one a day. I've been know to sit up all night watching a box set [usually Game of Thrones or Vikings...].

Sorry, I must learn how to do links , but if you go to www.comedy.co.UK you can vote for the Comedy awards coming up.DH are late discovering how sublime Detectorists is,such a joy and beautifully written and acted. It's nominated in the returning comedy category, and I never usually vote in these things but felt it so deserves to win.

We found it on Netflix .Recently got a new TV so only just able to access it.A revelation when nothing decent on live TV.I'm not sure if all episodes available on BBC iplayer.

Series 3 finished fairly recently, NotTooOld. You need catch up or iPlayer or summat. We recorded it and watched it all back to back. Lovely!
