My all time favourite films are Godfather 1 and 2, Dr Zhivago and Barry Lyndon which was quite niche but exquisite all have wonderful soundtracks and I always feel I could watch them again. I got given "Brief Encounter" a few years ago and whilst this was an acclaimed film of it's time I find the English stilted, cut glass accents highly amusing as well as some of the terminology. I watched it with my late mum once to take her back down memory lane and she said "I'd forgotten how awful the acting was then". Having said that I love "Gone with the Wind". I quite like the Bridget Jones feel good factor films with their romanticised version of England produced no doubt for the American market.
