Anyone watching Replacement I found it slow going with far too much involvement with the business side of the story I didn't feel any great connection with the characters but I m sure it's much too early to judge and I ll. stick with it the ending was scarey, I jumped

Varian - so many plot holes! Was there any night security on site?

What a wasted opportunity. It was not just the "psycho drama" bit that was rubbish. The architectural story was all wrong too.

Judging by the progress of Ellen's pregnancy, they seemed to go in a matter of weeks from winning a competition for a £12m library to being on site with structure complete - I can tell you it does take a lot longer. You just don't get from a new commission to first fix by the time the baby kicks! What happened to the planning application, building warrant (which they call building regs even though it's set in Glasgow) and tendering? (which would be absolutely required by a public sector client - Glasgow Corporation?)?????

The practice might hire a maternity cover temp who had practically no experience in the last ten years, to sit at a cad screen and do what she was told, but they would most certainly not put her in charge of this prestigous project.

No architect would ever go on site alone at night. What happened to CDM (health and safety)? If someone fell through a rooflight to her death there would be one almighty HSE investigation - and that could have been quite dramatic.

The first two episodes:excellent, the last episode: rubbish! Others have said it all, but really, what a waste of time watching it was.Grrrrrrrrrr.

Atqui Thank you for the link.

Says it all if the writer has to explain to the viewer what was happening.
I think most of what we needed to know/understand was still in the writers head!confused

merlotgran Wed 15-Mar-17 19:33:18

The writer, Joe Ahearne, is a man.

annsixty Wed 15-Mar-17 17:06:26

If she wrote the story she surely know what happened to her characters.
To be so vague is not very reassuring.

morethan2 Wed 15-Mar-17 16:56:45

I was bitterly disappointed in this last episode. It was as my mother used to say it was "as far fetched as a bucket of shite muck from china. The first two episode were so promising.

Atqui Wed 15-Mar-17 16:46:18

The writer has answered some questions here

The car that Ellen was locked in in the garage was the car that killed Caris (car belonging to Georgia.) Was this at Georgia's house.? The number plate was on a photo on Kay's phone and then shown again when Ellen was in the garage.

Still trying to get my head around that ending. I think my education is sorely lacking I would have no idea how to do all that hot wiring. I agree willsmadnan very poor writing in the last episode.

willsmadnan Wed 15-Mar-17 12:02:22

I'd looked forward to the last episode but from the moment Ellen hot-wired the car there were plot holes all over the place and a desperately rushed conclusion like the writers were running out of time. And a soppy ending alluding to a happy- ever -after with her ex boss. Poor writing after a brilliant 2 episodes. It seems to happen a lot with tv dramas, and novels too.

mrsjones Wed 15-Mar-17 11:53:02

I enjoyed the first two episodes but the last one was rushed rubbish. Sloppy writing and too many ends left hanging.

Rigby46 Wed 15-Mar-17 11:03:51

And I'll never get back the hours I wasted watching it sad. I have to say it is probably one of the worst things I have ever watched on TV. Why did I ? confused

Karanlouise Wed 15-Mar-17 10:55:15

I enjoyed it until the last half hour of the last episode and then felt really disappointed as so much was left unanswered and unbelievable. What a shame. confused

trisher Wed 15-Mar-17 10:24:17

I thought it was unbelievable from the start, but completely excelled itself when she was breast feeding the baby, returned to work immaculate, and kept on feeding despite so many traumas and leaving baby for over 12 hours. Dad still had breast milk in the freezer just before baby was pinched and mum hadn't been allowed to see her.

Morgana Wed 15-Mar-17 10:16:30

We have watched a few things where the ending was rubbish. It makes me angry because for me it devalues the whole series.

trisher Wed 15-Mar-17 10:09:22

Oh come on it was all rubbish. And was it a bit of propaganda to stop women wanting to work when they have a baby? At the end she was totally fulfilled of course by staying at home with her child (Aargh). Why on earth was David coming down the steps to where she was sitting on friend's grave, were we supposed to think they would live happily ever after?
Oh and what was the brief conversation with hubby's mum about?
Watched it but kept wanting to throw things at the TV because it was so stupid!

hulahoop Wed 15-Mar-17 10:08:35

Enjoyed it until last episode , I thought maybe boss may have rung police after she told him to really look at Paula and he had found something on wife's phone thought car scene was over top like others I wouldn't have a clue how to hot wire and wondered how she knew to go to library ?

Maggiemaybe Wed 15-Mar-17 09:39:02

I thought it was a dreadful ending to a really promising start. It was as if they were writing it as they went along, then realised they'd only half an hour to go and threw in any daft idea that came to them just to get it over with. That car scene with pills was nonsensical in so many ways, and how did Paula even get arrested?

Auntieflo Wed 15-Mar-17 08:54:22

I am so glad that everyone else who has posted found the ending rubbish/tosh. I was going to write something last night, then thought I'd wait and see what others felt. It definitely could have done with one more episode to untangle all the loose ends.

PRINTMISS Wed 15-Mar-17 08:39:08

The end was a bit of a shambles wasn't it, but never-the-less I did enjoy the series, the acting was I thought very good. It was the whole business with the car that really spoilt it. I think she refused to have the paternity test, because if her husband loved her he would believe her - if I had been in the same situation, I most certainly would have refused.

Pittcity Wed 15-Mar-17 08:31:59

I should have given up at the beginning. I agree it was tosh, so much didn't add up.

BlueBelle Wed 15-Mar-17 07:45:35

It felt to me as they had built it all up then had no idea how to finish it in one programme so rushed through some kind of ending cobbled together I really thought it was me not getting it so glad others felt the same

Rinouchka Wed 15-Mar-17 07:34:12

What rubbish: badly conceived and written final episode. Totally unbelievable and, on top of it all, very rushed final section. Nul points!

Grandma2213 Wed 15-Mar-17 00:06:02

What a shame I had enjoyed the programme up to this episode. It seemed hurriedly put together with unlikely events, as others have mentioned. It was as if two episodes had been fused unsuccessfully together.
