Did anyone watch this? My daughter and I liked it a lot, will certainly be watching again next week.

're CTM - I watched the first series and (as teetime said upthread) the storyline had run its course and it got boring. I did like the Christmas Special though, because of the different setting.

As for GKH, I shall watch this first series for the light entertainment factor, plus I am a sucker for colourful locations. Sometimes I look more at the whole picture on the screen and less at the actors grin and listen to the dialogue as if it's on the radio.

I must admit to being very surprised by which GN members like/dislike Call the Midwife!

Eloethan Tue 14-Feb-17 21:35:35

I love Call the Midwife.

I thought, from the previews, that the Karma Hospital thing looked a bit corny. I've recorded both episodes so far but haven't been able to work up the enthusiasm to watch them yet.

BlueBelle Mon 13-Feb-17 16:14:21

I ve left it too couldn't waste any more time on it shame I thought it might have been promising

gillybob Mon 13-Feb-17 10:00:18

I gave it another chance last night but that's it for me. I thought it was completely rubbish. Maybe worthy of a Midweek afternoon at 1.30 pm.

whitewave Mon 13-Feb-17 09:17:03

Well I had hoped it would be a relaxed easy view. But am so disappointed the characters are unbelievable, and in some cases miscast. The story line is poor. Shame.

cornergran Mon 13-Feb-17 09:02:55

I enjoy both. Not sure if that makes me easily pleased but they make for a relaxed, feet up, Sunday evening, a time I really don't want challenges.

ninathenana Mon 13-Feb-17 08:45:14

CTMW is sickly sweet a lot of the time but it does deal with the gritty stuff too. Last nights episode was a prime example.
GKH is easy watching, it's not something I would record if going out but I enjoy it.

PRINTMISS Mon 13-Feb-17 08:37:47

I like "Call the Midwife", but find "Good Karma Hospital" so predictable I could write it myself (probably true of "Call the Midwife" too, but at least some of that is true to life - I can remember!) The only "GOOD" thin about the Karma Hospital is the fact that it is not all in the DARK.

NanaandGrampy Mon 13-Feb-17 08:35:50

I actually kind of liked GKH , its inoffensive , Sunday evening viewing. I shall be seeing where it goes .

BlueBelle Mon 13-Feb-17 05:29:09

I m another who's not into 'call the midwife' and although I found Good Karma innocuous I didn't bother with it this week very light and fluffy and not really enough to make me want to watch it again It felt very old fashioned with no real substance

annsixty Wed 08-Feb-17 20:46:56

Oh thankyou grannylynn65 I have been too cowardly to admit that in view of the lovefest on here but it is so sweet and sickly!!.

grannylyn65 Wed 08-Feb-17 20:21:13

Can't stand Call The Midwife ????!

Auntieflo Tue 07-Feb-17 09:21:39

Love the expression 'meh', don't use it mehself, but enjoy it when it's written down, and can imagine the face of the user. Small pleasures smile

DanniRae Mon 06-Feb-17 20:36:58

I quite enjoyed The Good Karma Hospital so will watch again next week. I have returned to Call The Midwife (I couldn't watch it when they dealt with the thalidomide crisis as it was too sad) and I am really enjoying it again.

callgirl1 Mon 06-Feb-17 17:39:41

I`m another easily pleased then, I love Call the Midwife (have also read all the books) also Casualty, but can`t stand Holby City.

Greyduster Mon 06-Feb-17 17:31:59

It denotes (I think) that one is unimpressed with something! (You had to be there!).

merlotgran Mon 06-Feb-17 16:38:41

My teenage DGDs do, Ana but I haven't a clue what they're on about.

Amanda Redman's one-liners are the best bit of the programme, I think.

Ana Mon 06-Feb-17 16:34:22

How on earth do you pronounce 'meh'? grin

Does anyone actually say it?

Greyduster Mon 06-Feb-17 16:32:38

Just finished watching this on catchup. Meh! We aren't all going to be humming the theme tune any time soon are we hmm?

Bellanonna Mon 06-Feb-17 12:47:15

Oh well, I'm obviously easy to please. Enjoy CTM and what I have so far seen of the other one.

Teetime Mon 06-Feb-17 12:40:05

I'm another who doesn't like Call the Midwife. I watched the first series and then felt I had had enough of my womb contracting every time someone gave birth - its been going on too long and has exceeded the source material long ago.

Charleygirl Mon 06-Feb-17 12:03:34

I cannot stand Call the Midwife and the title of The Good Karma Hospital put me off although I do like to watch Amanda Redman. I will catch up with reading on Sunday evenings although I do enjoy Dragons Den.

gillybob Mon 06-Feb-17 10:32:15

I suppose it was worth watching for the sun and the scenery NfkDumpling but that was about it. I expected Phyllis Logan (Downton Abbey) to have a "permanent" role not just a quick scene. Maybe they tried to cram too many little pieces into it instead of concentrating on one or two decent story lines. Wedding on beach to brain tumour in 20 seconds flat ?

Thank goodness it's not just me Jane10 it makes me cringe and in the few episodes I have seen the acting was terrible although Mrs Trunchball, was okay.

Jane10 Mon 06-Feb-17 10:23:02

gillybob I find Call the Midwife pretty nauseating too. But I watch it...
