I was so looking forward to this new series as I think all the actors are really good, especially Shaun Evans and Roger Allam. But I didn't enjoy it at all. The plot was so convoluted and totally unrealistic that I got confused and bored. I do hope it picks up.

What did others think?

I love it because it's Oxford, my home city. Having said that, the story lines are pretty poor, and difficult to follow! But the characters are great in a slightly boring way! and I love the rather portly Sergeant who calls Morse 'Matey'! He of course was there years later as the now decidedly overweight officer, still calling Morse (now the wonderful John Thaw with a much improved script!!) 'Matey'!!!

That's right niggly he became the 'boss' in the future ( matey)
Didn't know that Oxford was your city, I love living near it I must admit.Went round the covered Market last week ( over spending) as usual.
I thought the last couple of Endeavor episodes were really good.

I loved the series, especially the last two or three (wasn't keen on the psychedelic one).

It's comfort viewing and I love Shaun Evans, although I can't help but keep noticing that his eyes are nowhere near as blue and piercing as John Thaw's were!

Oh rose I knew the Covered Market very well! It had has? a brilliant 'Macfisheries' among other interesting shops. My grandfather bought a puppy in a pet shop there in 1933!! It was the last one in the window!!, and he saw it on his way to work and it was still there on his way home, so he bought it!!!!! Luckily my Granny liked dogs!! Cat wasn't too amused apparently!! Billie was still there when I was born and died aged 12, so it had clearly been his lucky day!!
I sometimes find Endeavour difficult to follow, but that could be because I keep going to sleep!!!! But I love the programme, as it reminds me so much of when I studied (well, sort of!!) lived and worked in Oxford in that era all those years ago.

I am enjoying it (always good to see Anton Lesser on TV) but I do find that I cannot believe that the young Morse will ever grow up to be John Thaw. When I watch Young Montalbano I am always convinced that I am really watching younger versions of all the characters.

Every time I watch Endeavour I catch my breath when I see Anton Lesser. In this series he looks so like my late father it is uncanny.
