The listings are out, what programmes/films are you looking forward to watching over the festive season?

I want to watch Pride, a film about gay rights, and the Lady in the Van, which I started watching with my son but didn't finish so looking forward to snuggling on my own to watch that one. tchsmile

Alima Fri 16-Dec-16 05:50:13

I haven't read the listings yet but both the films you mentioned I want to watch. Also the double dose of Last Tango in Halifax which is on next week. Anything else will be a bonus.

All of the above plus Call the Midwife.

Ankers Fri 16-Dec-16 06:04:50

I couldnt find anything much.
I think I am becoming a bit bah humbug. Ignore me.

NanKate Fri 16-Dec-16 06:40:16

Ruby I have seen both films and they were great, you are in for a treat.

I am looking forward to watching 'We are going on a bear hunt' with my two young grandsons.

Haven't seen the listings yet. I look forward to marking them up for watching/recording/catch up. Isn't it wonderful the different ways we can watch the telly now ? My favourite way is to be snuggled in bed with my IPad resting on a pillow on my knees.

Happy watching Girls. smile

I was a bit disappointed with the crop of Christmas films - they could have done so much better, even with the "oldies", though I notice "The Bishop's Wife" with David Niven and Cary Grant is on and that is one of my favourites, and "The Great Outdoors" with John Candy and Dan Ackroyd, which I have taped to watch with GS. Greatly looking forward to "Last Tango in Halifax".

ninathenana Fri 16-Dec-16 07:57:29

I'm one of the few people who hasn't seen Frozen so looking forward to that and The Lady in the Van.
Last Tango in Halifax, Dr Who, Sherlock, Call the Midwife are also on my list.

Christinefrance Fri 16-Dec-16 08:40:47

My choices are much the same ninathenana, I haven't seen Frozen either. Also Paul O'Grady and Christmas at Battersea. Bear Hunt had a good write up as well. A lot of animated stuff this time and I'm not a great fan of that.

The Real Marigold on Tour looks interesting. In the clip Miriam M meets a US pensioner who has had 10 facelifts!

gillybob Fri 16-Dec-16 08:53:46

I'm looking forward to that too Pittcity nothing much else taking my fancy though. Maybe Last Tango in Halifax but that about it so far.

Swanny Fri 16-Dec-16 09:07:23

I've had a busy week but I did get the Christmas issue of tv listings - just haven't had time to look through it yet! I'm pleased to hear Lady in the Van is on, as I borrowed it from my local library some months ago but the dvd 'stuck' partway through. I got my money back but would rather have seen the whole film. Now I can tchsmile

Looking forward to catching up with all the good stuff during the week between Christmas and NY when all the visitors have gone.

I love a good old telly binge. tchgrin

£4.50 for the Christmas Radio Times is a bit steep and it finishes before New Year. Not much to highlight either.
Gransnet is a better source for what to watch.
I have set the recorder for The Bishop's Wife, Greyduster

gillybob Fri 16-Dec-16 10:24:06

I am enjoying the Lucy Worsley (wives of Henry 8th) series at the moment . Could watch programs like that back to back all day.

Humbertbear Fri 16-Dec-16 10:30:21

One Christmas Day, a few years ago, my daughter and I sat and watched episodes of Criminal Minds back to back all day long. It was great! (Maybe we were influenced by the champagne)

goose1964 Fri 16-Dec-16 10:35:01

looking forward to The last Dragon Slayer

LouLou21 Fri 16-Dec-16 10:50:37

Must see Captain Philips it will be good because Tom Hanks stars and to my knowledge he's never made a bad film. Also it's based on fact so that's always a bonus.

vampirequeen Fri 16-Dec-16 11:29:48

Haven't seen the listings but there is only one programme that is a must for Christmas and that's Dr Who.

adrisco Fri 16-Dec-16 11:32:25

Must see: Call the Midwife, Last Tango in Halifax, Grantchester, The Sally Wainwright drama about the Bronte sisters, Father Brown, Coronation Street, Christmas University Challenge, Mrs Brown's Boys, The Real Marigold on Tour .... yes I have developed square eyes as my mum used to say!

Legs55 Fri 16-Dec-16 12:28:26

Just started watching Criminal Minds from Series 1 so that will be on my tv if nothing else on. Lady in a Van - I've wanted to watch that for ages. Last Tango in Halifax is a must, Coronation Street & Emmerdale as always. Mrs Brown's Boys.

Don't tend to plan much unless I'm going out, get my tv guide with Saturday/Sunday papers - thrown out re-cycled several alreadytchhmm

Oh how I yearn for the Morecambe and Wise and other greats around in the 70's and 80's. Call me old fashioned and not in the real world but I deplore the language used in the name of humour in many of todays programmes
I recently watched a series on What was Allowed in the 70's.
One of the presenters in shock horror exclaimed
'What the F--- that is disgusting' when one of those in a comedy programme hit another on the head with a frying pan.
Catch my drift?

MES Fri 16-Dec-16 13:43:51

Call the Midwife for me!

grandMattie Fri 16-Dec-16 14:00:24

How to tame your Dragon 1 & 2 they are enchanting. No, I haven't seen Frozen, and am doubtful I shall either. but then I haven't seem Bambi either!

sue1169 Fri 16-Dec-16 14:06:36

Ethel and Ernest by Raymond Briggs?

JanT8 Fri 16-Dec-16 14:08:40

Saw Woman in a Van on DVD from the library and I have to say we were both disappointed. I love Alan Bennett and Maggie Smith but for us this film just didn't meet expectations.
Sorry!?
