The listings are out, what programmes/films are you looking forward to watching over the festive season?

I want to watch Pride, a film about gay rights, and the Lady in the Van, which I started watching with my son but didn't finish so looking forward to snuggling on my own to watch that one. tchsmile

EastEndGranny Fri 16-Dec-16 14:14:20

Sorry but certainly don't yearn for Eric and Ernie. Loved them at the time but really they come across as so controlling and always trying to steal the lime light. I annoyed both Pride and The Lady in the Van and look forward to many of the other programmes mentioned by others. I hope to have a good stock of recorded programmes to watch in the New Year when my son and family fly off to Australia (. Hopefully just for a few years!)

No. ..... I ENJOYED those films. Sorry forgot to read my post through!!!

Guess what - I don't normlly find anything to watch 350+ days a year and haven't found a single thing that appeals this year - anythng I would bother with is repeated day in day out and having been through RT from cover to cover I can see myself settling down with my computer to play WOW and maybe reading my library book. May even clear the 2000+ old e-mails, catch up with my studying and make a start with my annual NYR of getting back into comping. I'm hoping that my big present this year will be a sewing maching, so may order some sewing bits ant pieces and try to get to the market before Xmas to find some nice material. Bah Humbug!!! Enjoy your watching, folks - hope you find lots of programmes to suit you all.

"DELICIOUS" on Sky1 looks good - Dawn French, Iain Glen, Emilia Fox. Starts on 30th.

Isn't there meant to be a Christmas special of Outnumbered, or have I been living in a parallel universe (as usual)?

jusnoneed Fri 16-Dec-16 15:36:17

I've seen Outnumbered advertised, the children all grown up.
Delicious does look good, Sherlock (if it's not as odd as last years special) is another. Mrs Browns Boys. Doubt there will be much else to tempt, haven't looked at the listings even though OH picked up a magazine a couple of weeks ago. Lots of the same old films no doubt.
I was disappointed with Lady in the Van too, bought the dvd as so many people said how good & funny it was - not to me.

Next year if you grudge the cost of the Radio Times at Christmas see if they have an ofer on a subscription. I got 10 issues , including the Christmas one , for a pound. You have to remember to cancel the direct debit after the pound is taken to stop them claiming more money. I did it as soon as it was out of my account .
The papers give what is on TV anyway so I would not bother with the Radio Times again I just thought I would give it a try. I also got three copies of Delicious for £3 . Hope I can find some inspiration in them.

TV over Christmas...I work in retail...have the bare minimum time off.... Enjoy...hahaha

ninathenana Fri 16-Dec-16 15:44:25

pennyh47 Fri 16-Dec-16 16:10:39

We just buy the Mail on Saturday as usual which has all the listings over the xmas and new year. Plus I like the magazine. Lot cheaper than Radio Times etc

sue1169 Fri 16-Dec-16 16:22:54

..anyone watching the Queens speech?

Juggernaut Fri 16-Dec-16 18:28:38

I've been trying to find a blu-ray or DVD of The Bishops Wife, so I'm a happy bunny now!
Going to record Bear Hunt and The Last Dragonslayer too!

rosesarered Fri 16-Dec-16 19:18:03

Last Tango, and maybe Outnumbered and so far that's all. There may be a good old film or two to watch and we have plenty if dvd's if stuck for something ( various series of Curb Your Enthusiasm, Morse, Father Ted etc,)
there won't be time for a lot of tv watching though.

Jalima Fri 16-Dec-16 19:36:12

Could this be the best line over the Christmas period:

Celia is trying to persuade Alan to take part in some amateur dramatics -
Alan (Derek Jacobi) responds with 'Me - I can't act!'

lol

rosesarered Fri 16-Dec-16 19:37:47

tchgrin .... and then he acts really well not being able to act!

Its Lady in a Van for me and Call the Midwife,I have seen Lady in a Van a couple of times and find something new every time,OH has found a new Channel with boxed set documentaries so he will be pleased with that,I quite like most programmes except sci-fi and scary stuff, mind you I only have 3 days off over Christmas so most will be recorded for later.

KatyK Sat 17-Dec-16 13:46:47

I'm looking forward to the Alan Bennet documentary type thing.
Also Last Tango in Halifax, The Bear Hunt, Mrs Brown's Boys, Midnight Mass from St Chad's Birmingham on Christmas Eve.

Charleygirl Sat 17-Dec-16 13:50:08

I like Paul O'Grady and I will watch Strictly, Frozen and the Lady in a Van. Apart from those there is little for me.

NanKate Sat 17-Dec-16 15:34:35

When is 'The Bishop's Wife' on and which station ? Two of you have mentioned it so I Will give it a whirl. Thanks.

HootyMcOwlface Sat 17-Dec-16 16:14:12

I am looking for The Bishop's Wife in the listings as well and can't see it - anyone know which side it is on and when please? And Lady in the Van? Thank you!

Pittcity Sat 17-Dec-16 17:25:38

The Bishops Wife was on this morning at 8.15am on BBC2. I have Virgin so you can just type in a title and it will record it.
Lady in the Van is Christmas Eve at 9pm on BBC2.

NanKate Sat 17-Dec-16 17:28:04

L in the V is on Xmas Eve BBC2 at 9.00 pm. It's a great film Hooty.
