If you are watching Missing what do you think of it . it's complicated isn't it? stories within stories and changing countries and changing years I m really having to keep on my toes to follow it I am enjoying it though One criticism is I wish the wife and girlfriend looked less alike I have to keep translate which is which it is getting better now I m more familiar with the story line but the first couple of episodes foxed me

I am delighted that we all seem to find it confusing, because I really struggleD. Not only to differentiate between the wife and girlfriend but baptise with and without hair and to put that into a timescale. Really enjoy it though and look forward to the final episode next week.
Also watching paranoid and finding the same confusion....anyone else feel the same?

gettingonabit Fri 04-Nov-16 12:54:16

Not watching Paranoid-that would be a step too far for me....

I'm finding it very confusing but enjoyable, as was the last series. I luuuurve Julien.

Unlike many, I don't find the women confusing to look at. However I'm struggling with the rest of it.

So: Alice is Sophie, right? Sophie has somehow acquired Alice's body and put it in the shed, and burnt it. The dna test has been done; this has established that the burnt body (Alice) is in fact Sam's daughter. But she's not necessarily Gemma's daughter, is she? Which is why I think Sophie is the real Alice, the one in the café, who's also Sam AND Gemma's daughter. So still alivesmile.

This (to me) explains the similarity in looks between the two girls.

That's about all I can theorise about. I have no idea who is the abductor, or what the motive could be for the abduction. I don't think it's the butcher, though. I think the attack on the wife is a straightforward vigilante attack.

I think the Brig is somehow involved, but not sure why or how. I think he may not have dementia though, and is covering something up.

I think the third girl is from Turkey, and is exhibition man's sister (?).

I don't think pregnant officer has lost the baby. I think she will turned out to have had a premature birth.

Phew.

Oh yes....there's a connection between Henry Reed and Turkey. He was paying exhibition man for his sister, which is why (I think) his (Henry's) son was in Turkey fighting and protecting Julien and his friend.

I'm pretty sure Julien is imagining things due to his tumour. Or some things.

gettingonabit Fri 04-Nov-16 13:02:16

...which is why exhibition man's sister is indeed the girl in the photo with Alice/Sophie and Sophie/Alex.

Last week I was thinking of giving up on the series, now I'm desperate to see the next episode!

I'd like to know where all those scans were done (as well on whose babies, of course). I'm now starting to wonder if the pregnant soldier is the daughter of the man with (real or fake) dementia at all. Has her mother been mentioned at any time? Perhaps nobody is who they claim they are. Maybe I'm Alice Walker (decides to go for a quick lie down).

BlueBelle I have Sky on Demand so will download from there, bit difficult watching on my iPad whilst ironing - have to watch something as ironing is SO boring.

gettingonabit In the past did you ever watch a programme called Soap? It was part soap part fantasy, and at the end of every episode it said "confused? you will be next week?" this is a bit how I feel about Missing.

gettingonabit Fri 04-Nov-16 15:38:26

No, never watched soap, tizliz.

But I AM still recovering from Line of Duty...grin.

Christinefrance Fri 04-Nov-16 18:50:46

I loved Line of Duty, are they doing another one next year ?

Ana Fri 04-Nov-16 18:52:16

Won't be the same without Lindsey...sad

gettingonabit Sat 05-Nov-16 10:54:30

No, not the same without Lindsey.

Nice, though, that she's popped up in the Missing. smile.

Great actress; understated and never typecast.

I watched the latest episode of Missing on catch-up yesterday and my brain still hurts!

trisher Sat 05-Nov-16 12:27:45

Spoiler Alert! Body in shed was Alice planted by whoever abducted them, he couldn't manage to keep them after Henry Reed was killed. Alice who came back was Sophie forced to cooperate to save life of 3rd girl. Story she told about Sophie was really about Alice. She then went to Switzerland. Who is the father of the Redcap's child? Could it be her own dad? Any way it's gripping and I keep changing my mind about who is involved, pretty sure it's not the butcher, but his wife might know something.

citygranny Sat 05-Nov-16 17:07:22

gave up i'm afraid ! but will watch the last episode to try and make sense off it all.

Beth61 Sat 05-Nov-16 19:23:17

I was completely lost for the first two weeks but it is starting to come together. I really like Keeley Hawes; think she has a very expressive face and was brilliant in The Durrells as well.

Luckygirl Sat 05-Nov-16 19:33:30

Yes - I assumed that the body in the shed was Alice, planted there by ?Sophie for reasons unknown.

The brigadier is definitely suspect - "Sophie" asked him how he could live with himself after what he had done.

Butcher is certainly innocent; but his wife?

Welshwife Sat 05-Nov-16 20:23:31

Well they have three more episodes to work it all out!

gma Sat 05-Nov-16 21:03:49

Really enjoying Missing! Good to have something which you really have to follow carefully. Very well acted, can't wait until next episode, no difficulty in following the plot!! Good old auntie Beeb !

merlotgran Sat 05-Nov-16 21:34:10

PLEASE No more spoilers.

NotTooOld Sat 05-Nov-16 22:17:06

I love it but am mystified as to why I should fancy Julien. Does anyone else?

Alima Sun 06-Nov-16 08:08:19

I think this series is brilliant. I do like Julian NTO but maybe fancy is going a wee bit too far! I find I really have to concentrate when I watch, much more satisfying than brain training games. Thank heavens for iplayer too. I fell asleep at the very end of one episode, (no reflection on the programme at all) and was able to catch up as soon as I could. This is where the BBC excels.

trisher Sun 06-Nov-16 10:08:54

Oh I fancy Julien- it's to do with that hero thing- he will always do what is necessary in spite of any obstacles. There is another question Alice/Sophie had had a baby, she said it had died, but was that the truth?

gettingonabit Sun 06-Nov-16 11:19:46

I fancy Julienblush.

Rigby46 Sun 06-Nov-16 11:29:58

Help - I thought I understood what was going on until I read this thread - now I'm confused

BlueBelle Thu 10-Nov-16 05:00:02

Well what did you think to last night then it's getting deeper and deeper
