Each year I say never again as they are all such 'up your own bum' characters but I always get dragged in It takes a week or two to get to know the characters especially the quieter ones
Any opinions ? I m not sure the right girls have gone so far I think the girl who was the project manager this week was pretty poor

It's one of the few prog my husband and I both watch, we have different tastes in tv. It gets better as the series goes on and you get to know the characters. Some are so up themselves and pretty thick to be honest. It's a marmite programme, u either love it or hate it! I wonder if ! Alan Sugar has an earpiece with someone feeding him one liners? They are usually spot on!

There always used to be some likeable sensible candidates in previous series. Not so sure this time though!

I've just been reading "The Road to Little Dribbling" by Bill Bryson in which he talks about the Dunnings Kruger study which basically says that some people are too stupid to realise how stupid they are.

That sums up this lot for me. Still makes addictive viewing, though.

Bill Bryson really knows his stuff -and how to write about it in such an amusing way!

He makes some very wry and apt observations about British politics in that book - my copy is bristling with those thin post-it stickers!

Snap Ana!

Well did the right one go today?

I'd say yes. I actually liked the Sausage King, but he made a weak project manager. Salt and vinegar fudge had disaster written all over it! Mukai was lucky to stay after the huge discounting error selling the surplus stock to the trade customer. And as for Paul.... I think he's competent, but it's hard to tell when all his energy went into throwing his toys out of the pram (or his fudge into the road). You're Fired was entertaining last night. Ruth Davidson is very sharp.

Commonsense goes out of the window on that programme. Who in their right mind would consider making/eating salt and vinegar fudge?

DaphneBroon Fri 21-Oct-16 10:08:20

On iPlayer there is a hilarious (IMHO) "clip" with subtitles of what everybody is REALLY saying or thinking. So true.
What plonkers!!

felice Fri 21-Oct-16 10:54:27

Ruth Davidson was not on last night, it was Susan Calman the comedian and former lawyer.

Maggiemaybe Fri 21-Oct-16 14:10:52

Oh, of course you're right, felice, sorry. I always get those two muddled up!

felice Fri 21-Oct-16 14:19:47

Short, fat and Scottish, ooops, sounds a bit familiargrin.

DaphneBroon Fri 21-Oct-16 15:25:23

Help ma boab!
On how many levels could one find that offensive?

felice Fri 21-Oct-16 16:54:22

As I was talking about myself none, as the 2 ladies in question are then wheres the offense.
having heard and seen Susan Calman for many years she is the first to say that of herself and what I have seen of Ruth Davidson she has a good sense of humour.
Wish there was a wooden spoon iconsad

DaphneBroon Fri 21-Oct-16 17:40:49

Speaking also as a vertically challenged Scot......

Maggiemaybe Fri 21-Oct-16 19:23:55

I knew who you were talking about, felice (and no doubt you're being a bit harsh on yourself smile). And I'm not saying all Scots look alike, by the way. But these two do, IMHO (and they also share a great sense of humour)!

DaphneBroon Fri 21-Oct-16 23:09:59

<sigh> only joking felice thlsmile

Not harsh on myself at all, at the doctors a few weeks ago I was lying like a stranded whale on the table getting my blood test, when DGS who was with me asked GP if Grandma was having a baby.
GP said no and started to tap on my tummy and told DGS that 'Grandma was just fat and he should help me lose some of it'.
They call a spade a spade here. Dgs then proceeded to tell everyone of course.blush

Just wonder how these people run businesses. Basic question which would you rather sell 50 bags for £75 or 100 bags for £107? He had to go, looked a bit like a fish out of water.

Deedaa Sat 22-Oct-16 20:35:50

He seems quite a nice chap, but better off where he is I think.

POGS Sat 05-Nov-16 19:00:25

Caught up today.

What a load of planks. grin

rubylady Sun 06-Nov-16 04:43:53

POGS I think Rhod is better than Dara really, it has been very funny watching him. He is much more quick witted and goes off on a tangent more than Dara did. I didn't like Jack Dee doing it at all, although I like him normally, he wasn't suited to this programme.

I think this series has been good up to now. It is part of the charm that they get things wrong and make a fool of themselves. I just wish Karren would smile from time to time, Margaret did. Claude was really funny this week. smile

POGS Sun 06-Nov-16 09:35:18

Ruby

Rhod is funny and he seems to make the fired Apprentice feel at ease.

Sugar made me laugh when said "Even bleeding Napoleon did better at Waterloo than you lot".

The format of having 3 different panel members on You're Fired is back and some of them have been funny, scottish comedian Susan Calmon and Jenny Eclair made me laugh. The last series had a permanent panelist, Romesh Ranganathan and I don't find him funny on any show he is on.

I certainly can't spot a winner.

rubylady Tue 08-Nov-16 03:42:18

I really like Jessica POGS, she's a Northern lass who seems a bit wacky! I did like JD too, but he was hopeless in the last task and so deserved to go, you can't pass the buck like that and get away with it.

I like Romesh, especially the programmes with his mum when they travel, he's really dry in his sense of humour. I like Susan too, very funny lady.

It is interesting, this week should be good, I like the task they are doing but can't remember exactly what it is, something about being out overnight. I'd be a great candidate, wouldn't I? grin
