Each year I say never again as they are all such 'up your own bum' characters but I always get dragged in It takes a week or two to get to know the characters especially the quieter ones
Any opinions ? I m not sure the right girls have gone so far I think the girl who was the project manager this week was pretty poor

I haven't watched it for years. Can't stand Alan Sugar although I did like Claude when he did the interviews, and the contestants, don't get me started!

I'm from an advertising background and found the latest episode so funny I almost fell off the sofa. The commercials they made were so dire it was almost untrue; one lot didn't know what 'unisex' meant and the other shot the thing in the loo! I can't remember what the teams called themselves, but seem to recall that the girls name was something that they thought meant something completely different. The dry comments from the 'overseers' and LS I also find hilarious. So, I agree that the programme is anything but intelligent, but I do love these contestants - most of whom run their own businesses, probably because nobody in their right mind would hire them!

I love it...hooked already. They all think they're amazing....ha we'll see. confused

The candidates get more self-deluding, shallow and boastful by the year. Beyond satire ?

Perdita33 Sun 16-Oct-16 11:27:17

It's hilarious - the contestants are so pathetic!

I've watched it since the beginning and still enjoy it though not quite as much. I tend to whizz through the task, watching now and then to get a flavour, and home in on the board room parts now. I particularly enjoy the interview stages.
Can only imagine that the choice of candidates is made with a view to a lively TV programme. They select the eccentric, gobby and arrogant with a few sensible ones thrown in to get us watching and talking. I bet they edit it to that end too. Manipulated? Me? Well - yes.

Jaxie Sun 16-Oct-16 13:14:15

I watch it with fascination, screeching you thick b----ers, don't you know that? Stop talking & listen; put some sensible shoes on; stop plucking your eyebrows (if you're a man); put yourselves in the other person's shoes etc, etc. How these duffers run successful businesses is beyond my comprehension.

I watched a few episodes of the original until I could bear it no longer. In this day and age who needs a programme promoting bullying and incompetence. I despaired at both aspects. Have to say the younger members of my workplace loved it. Maybe it gave them some kind of false hope!!!!

hulahoop Sun 16-Oct-16 15:19:30

Never watch it !

BBbevan Sun 16-Oct-16 16:26:08

I can't stand those horrid shouty, egotistical people. So don't watch it anymore.

Battersea1971 Sun 16-Oct-16 17:03:13

I wish they would do a programme about the previous winners, and what they are doing now!

Barmyoldbat Sun 16-Oct-16 17:07:17

Dont they ever eat a meal? In the morning they seem to spend all their time faffing around with hair and make up.... what about a good cup of tea?

BlueBelle Sun 16-Oct-16 17:25:14

well one of the past apprentices took his own life didn't he ? A young chap can't remember his name though Battersea a few have had moments on the TV I saw that Badger girl on once doing something

BlueBelle Sun 16-Oct-16 17:34:37

Need to write an apology I googled it it was Stuart Baggs and he died of natural causes at 27 if you Google passed apprentices you can see what 24 of them have done

BlueBelle Sun 16-Oct-16 17:35:03

Whoops past not passed

Caretaker Sun 16-Oct-16 17:48:38

Unadulterated rubbish.

Battersea1971 Sun 16-Oct-16 21:37:13

It's a stepping stone for some contestants. Katie Hopkins has done well, I know she's not everyone's cuppa tea, but she says it as it is, and I like her.

BlueBelle Sun 16-Oct-16 21:59:11

The woman's dreadful but she's certainly made herself notorious Battersea She makes my blood pressure rise

Good job you don't watch it then Caretaker

Nanna58 Sun 16-Oct-16 22:55:12

Would love to see a 50's + series, just to see how much difference life experience makes

Witzend Sun 16-Oct-16 23:04:23

Haven't watched for ages but dh used to be addicted to it. I swear that when they're recruiting for this, they have a list of 'types' they have to include, most of them obnoxious in some way or 'I'm so wonderful' or both, with just a couple of nice, normal types thrown in. I'm guessing most viewers love to loathe obnoxious contestants and can't wait for them to mess up, followed by 'You're fired!'
It'd be very dull IMO if there weren't at least a few obnoxious prats/pratesses in the mix.

POGS Sun 16-Oct-16 23:43:31

Caretaker.

Unadulterated rubbish.

Yep, that's precisely why some of us would admit to enjoying watching it, I will quite happily.

If I wanted to keep my knickers starched all day I wouldn't watch it.

POGS Sun 16-Oct-16 23:45:43

Over 50's and the word 'Appprentice' don't exactly roll off the tongue but I agree it would be interesting to watch.

Stuart Baggs (the Brand) was one of my favourites. Unlike a lot of them, he was obviously hard-working and likeable. I felt so sad when I heard he'd died.

annodomini Mon 17-Oct-16 08:46:17

I think they pull the candidates out from the bottom of a pile of applicants. The more self-deluded the better. grin

BBbevan Mon 17-Oct-16 18:21:54

But aren't there a lot of self- deluded young people these days.? Just look at the X Factor.
I wonder why?
