Best Disney films to watch with a 4 year old?

Try 'The Good Dinosaur'

This is such a sweet and funny film. I watched it with my five year old grandson and we both loved it.

If she loved Frozen she will also like Brave [I was determined to dislike Frozen but was captivated by it]. I was really disappointed with The Good Dinosaur. Even at 4 I think all the Toy Story films are watchable over and over again.

I like the oldies too - 101 Dalmatians - the original one, Cinderella- again the original. Some of the Disney shorts are good. My littlest Grandson aged 2 cant make a whole movie but 20 mins is about right.

Jungle book is good fun.My grandchildren and I have also enjoyed The Little Mermaid,Robin Hood and Aladdin. A word of warning though -Snow White is very scary! Live action films we have enjoyed include Mary Poppins, Madeline and Matilda (you may find you end up watching them repeatedly!)

Has she seen Ice Age, Madagascar, Tangled, Shrek or 101 Dalmatians ?
On Netflix, my DGC like Masha and the Bear. It's a Russian cartoon series about a naughty little girl and a retired circus bear who has gone to live in the country!

Lady and the Tramp.

Oh Lady and the Tramp! I had forgotten about that one. She LOVES dogs. And Mary Poppins is definitely worth a go to see if she likes non-animated films. thanks all

Nothing beats Mary Poppins

Jungle Book, 101 Dalmations and any of the Ice Age films. We tried the old Alice in Wonderland recently but GSs found it boring (So did I!) Avoid Bambi unless you want them scarred for life.

Definately avoid Bambi. Apparently I was taken out out of the cinema bellowing at the top of my lungs. Both of my sisters were most embarrassed by me.

Beauty and the Beast. Just cuddle in the scary bits.

Mary Poppins... time and time again.
Also, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.

When my GS was that age, other than Peter Pan, we couldn't engage him with the Classic Disney animated films, but he loved Bedknobs and Broomsticks and Mary Poppins, Ice Age and the Toy Story films.

Babe, Rio, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang were all favourites by 6. Dumbo, both Disney Jungle book films. Matilda a huge favourite. As she likes dogs, Beethoven's 5th and Beverley Hills Chiuaua, Lassie films. Maybe Fantasia, definitely Monsters Inc, sure there's loads more. You'll have so much fun together!

Not a film, but Dora the Explorer, free on Netflix entrances mine, especially Skiver.

The Lion King and Ice Age

Not sure of the age of your grandchild but my 8 year old watched Eddie the Eagle and although not a Disney Film it was brilliant also The Sandlot Kids.

They did a Wind in the Willows collection which my nephew liked at that age. I can't remember which one I bought him but it had a very funny horse in it.

The Sword in the Stone is good. My DGS is 5 and he loves it, especially when Arthur changes into other creatures. It is on Sky at the moment, if you have it.

My three year old DGS loves Tangled - it's a take on Rapunzel. Be warned though - you'll spend the rest of the day singing, Listen to your Mumsy

DGD watched Tangled every weekend for quite a while when she about 9, before that she was very keen on an animation film about Moses, Prince of Egypt. We were never sure why. My 4 older GC liked the film of the musical Joseph after we saw the show together when they were 4-10.

Not Disney, I don't think,but the Shrek series. I love them never mind the GC's.

Nobody mentioned Disney's Pinocchio...I loved that one. A bugs life by pixar, and probably loads of others i can't remember

Not sure if it is Disney but there is a range of Tinkerbell films, we have watched Tinkerbell and the Netherbeast so often I know the script of by heart. DH likes Tinkerbell and the Pirate Fairy best, think it is the very short skirts!
