'Joey' from Friends driving a noisy old banger too near the Cenotaph for the BBC programme. grin

Just publicity. Never hurts to be a little controversial...

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Mar-16 14:01:55

shock Do you think Colonel Richard Kemp was paid to complain, by the producer? Do you think he would take a bribe to do that?

PRINTMISS Mon 14-Mar-16 14:24:34

I think the programme should have been axed long ago. It is stupid to do dangerous tricks with cars, when we are always campaigning for safer driving, particularly for the younger generation. Cars are not just an easy ride from one place to the other, they can be lethal weapons.

Evans is a self serving pillock.

He's got the publicity he wanted so now he can afford to be contrite and get even more.

I have a sneaky suspicion he'll lose interest in the main presenting job and leave after the first series.

James Martin will soon be available wink

Evans angry

mollie Mon 14-Mar-16 16:33:01

Not the complaint! The stunt! Do you think Matt Le Blanc, from the home of the free and probably a true patriot, would do something like that back home? It was meant to be controversial to attract attention. No doubt the complaint is genuine - even I didn't doubt that!

obieone Mon 14-Mar-16 16:53:21

The BBC seem to go a little lower in my estimation every day.

NanaandGrampy Mon 14-Mar-16 16:58:02

Total waste of time all of them.

In my opinion it was disrespectful and as many suggest purely a PR stunt. So Im going to go and do wheelies up and down the aisles in Arlington and see if anyone shrugs and says sorry about that!!

Grrrrr

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Mar-16 17:19:40

mollie grin

I saw him driving the 'car' down the Mall. It was very underwhelming.

Jane10 Mon 14-Mar-16 17:26:12

Jeremy wouldn't have done it! (insert spoon and stir grin !)

Humbertbear Mon 14-Mar-16 18:00:11

I don't like Top Gear or Chris Evans but on the Today Programme they played the apology he made on his own radio show this morning. He apologised 'unreservedly' and admitted that the whole thing had been a bad error of judgement.

merlotgran Mon 14-Mar-16 18:16:39

Well he would, wouldn't he?

Jane10 Mon 14-Mar-16 18:21:32

He's had a busy day advertising apologising!

POGS Mon 14-Mar-16 18:31:25

Disrespectful or not how much money did that cost the License Fee Payer.

How do the tyre tracks left on the road surface get dealt with, they are a b----y mess. confused

It was a BBC conspiracy to put George Osborne off his Budget Speech wasn't it. grin

Luckygirl Mon 14-Mar-16 18:56:27

I find the programme, its ethos and the presenters wholly distasteful - which is exactly what they want to happen of course.

Anniebach Mon 14-Mar-16 19:08:50

Surely Osbourne didn't co pmplain because he like Cameron counts Clarkson as a bestie friend shock

merlotgran Mon 14-Mar-16 19:26:38

Clarkson has nothing to do with it, Anniebach

Ana Mon 14-Mar-16 19:29:36

Neither does George Osborne.

bookdreamer Mon 14-Mar-16 19:31:01

?

f77ms Mon 14-Mar-16 19:37:10

Gideon Osbourne complained saying the noise of the TG cars were putting him off writing his budget Surely that can only be a good thing !

POGS Mon 14-Mar-16 19:41:55

Osborne made a tongue in cheek tweet "Trying to write my budget, despite noisy episode of Top Gear being filmed outside Horseguards Parade. Keep it down please @Chris Evans"

Of course some media portray as it a 'telling off'. They would wouldn't they. ?

Ana Mon 14-Mar-16 19:47:16

Someone had to get the 'Gideon' jibe in, didn't they? grin

(and there's no 'u' in Osborne btw)

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Mar-16 21:00:38

I wish I'd seen the one by Big Ben. Looks much more interesting than the one in the Mall. sad

jinglbellsfrocks Mon 14-Mar-16 21:01:21

GO was joking. It was quite funny.
