I am so excited to hear that Carole King is coming to Hyde Park this summer and will be performing her album, Tapestry, in its entirety for the first time. This is my favourite album and if I can get tickets I shall be there. I'm slightly apprehensive about feeling claustrophobic in a sea of over half a million people and I gather it's standing room only, no chairs or seat sticks allowed, so it probably won't be the most comfortable I've ever been, but seeing/hearing her sing will be worth it.

The weather's looking good for tomorrow smile

I have Tapestry blasting out at full volume - just wondering where the past 45 years went sad

We travelled down to London today so we could join in the Brexit March then popped along to Hyde Park afterwards to check out where the south gate entrance is for tomorrow. We had a delicious meal in our hotel and I am now in my nightie, ready for bed (when the football's finished) and feeling very excited about tomorrow. I have absolutely no idea what to expect, but there seem to be a lot of supporting acts (none of whom I've heard of) and The Wonderful Man seems to think that Carol King will only appear very late on. The website says 'curfew' is at 10:30pm so I'm assuming that's when we all have to have left Hyde Park. I have a small umbrella and a rain coat, so I'll cope with the anticipated drizzle, but the 'no chairs' rule will tax me - having done so much walking today I think I'll be feeling the need to sit down! smile

Hope you have a great time and the weather holds out for you. No way could I stand all evening.

H loves Jools Holland and he was performing near hear recently but it was a non seated event and I had to disappoint him.

You could sit on the ground, just take some kind of mat.
That's what I would have done - quite envious!

Will it be on TV?

glammanana Sun 03-Jul-16 11:59:40

Apologies for the hear which should of course be here.
TriciaF if I'd sat on the floor (TV studio) I'd never have got up again grin

If we sit on the ground Tricia we won't see anything! Although there will be giant screens to see her close-up.

I live about 40 minutes walk away so we're planning to get there around 17.00 and mooch around the bars and eating opportunities smile and listen to the support acts.

Weather is still OK!

Arrived at 12:40 for 1pm entry (paid extra to get 'priority' entry) so managed to get a space close to the stage and it was well worth it! It was a great atmosphere and I was actually quite emotional when Carole King came onstage. Her Tapestry album has been a constant backdrop in my life and it was lovely to share the evening with my Wonderful Man, who being ten years younger than me isn't as familiar with her music. She did a duet with a recorded version of her younger self and also a duet with her daughter. The whole thing was a joy - AND it didn't rain!. grin

Glad you you enjoyed it granny. My son in law and daughter were there, evidently got really good seats they think they did not pay for! somewhere really very the stage and he, my son in law has written, on his face book page, lyrically(!) about Tapestry, he does so love his music it is a joy to hear him talk, fortunately my daughter too loves the same kind of music, and will happily indulge him in his ramblings. Music is so good for the soul isn't it?

Tapestry was the very first album I bought!
