I am so excited to hear that Carole King is coming to Hyde Park this summer and will be performing her album, Tapestry, in its entirety for the first time. This is my favourite album and if I can get tickets I shall be there. I'm slightly apprehensive about feeling claustrophobic in a sea of over half a million people and I gather it's standing room only, no chairs or seat sticks allowed, so it probably won't be the most comfortable I've ever been, but seeing/hearing her sing will be worth it.

It's one of my all time favourites too ga, reminds me of a special time in my life.

Is there a confirmed date, do you know?

grannylyn65 Tue 08-Mar-16 19:22:24

Yes, just Google it/her!

baubles Tue 08-Mar-16 19:29:31

Have just done so.

Sadly I'll be out of the country on that date. sad

Wish I lived nearer...sad

I love her music too, wish I could be there, but impossible.
I bought the piano music for Tapestry, but it's much more difficult than I expected, lots of octave+ chords, complex rhythms and key changes which are beyond my ability level . It would be so much better to hear it live.

We have tickets to see her on July 3rd with Don Henley - so excited ??We bought them via Amazon ...

jogginggirl Thu 10-Mar-16 09:59:42

I'm with you on the claustrophobia thingy ga but I'm hoping the excitement will carry me through ......

I would love to go to the concert but I couldn't do the crowds either in Hyde Park or the transport. I did see the musical Beautiful thought and it was such a good show. Do,you think they will put the concert on TV?

Atqui Thu 10-Mar-16 10:34:01

Just found you can buy tickets for the less crowded terrace area .....£278.. Sold out . What a shame!!!

jogginggirl Thu 10-Mar-16 17:37:06

Hi Atqui - I'm working on overcoming my fears this year - so, watch this space grin

We have tickets for the Summer Garden and I am hoping the weather will be good sunshine

I haven't seen the musical Beautiful - maybe we should tie it all in with a weekend away ...? hmm

TriciaF Thu 10-Mar-16 18:33:40

This is my favourite (and most other people's too I should think)

You can get all the Tapestry songs on youtube, but to see her live another experience altogether.

I bought my tickets today! Whoopee!

At Christmas the Wonderful Man gave me a voucher for a trip to London and a show, so I shall allow him to book the hotel and to reimburse me the money spent on tickets. Fortunately for his wallet I went with the 'priority' tickets rather than the undoubtedly swish, but very expensive garden tickets jogging. I shall give you a wave over the barrier. smile

jogginggirl Thu 10-Mar-16 20:55:38

How fab ga - is the Wonderful Man going with you ...? What a lovely present to give you for Christmas ❤️
I kind of think we bought the garden tickets by mistake - they give you so little time to decide - all I could see was the clock going down..... shock

We had already lost two tickets through being indecisive so we just went for it.... that's both pensions spent this month ??

????

I'll also be in the cheap seats - well £74 and standing!

For those worried about being in a huge crowd ... I'm very claustrophobic but survived The Stones in Hyde Park a couple of years ago with no problems. It's not one huge mass - there are barriers and 'aisles' so if you suddenly need to get out you can smile

Really looking forward to this 'happening' - can already feel the earth move under my feet! smile

Sounds like a perfect opportunity for a grandsnet meet-up ...? ?

jogginggirl Thu 10-Mar-16 22:26:24

...and thank you for those comforting words re: crowds Riverwalk ??

I've just booked a 'cheap' (£74!) ticket, so excited to go, my favourite ever LP given to me in 1973 by someone very special, never thought I'd have the chance to see Carole perform it live. I'd be interested to meet other Gransnetters there; I've joined recently and would also be interested in meeting anyone in my area, South Birmingham, but there doesn't seem to be an active group, anyone else in this area?

We are going to, celebrating a special birthday so went for the expensive tickets, so looking forward to it.

The Wonderful Man will indeed be my escort for the event jogging - and he's very pleased that his gift will be put to such good use. I don't have much in the way of music, but I have had this album on record, on tape and now, inadvertently, on two CD's, so he understands and is very pleased by my excitement to be hearing it sung live. smile

Atqui Sat 12-Mar-16 12:02:37

Hope you all have a wonderful time.Hope you conquer your crowd fear Jogging. It's probably not as bad as it looks from afar. I survived Elton John at Eden.

Atqui Sat 12-Mar-16 12:03:17

The crowds I mean not Elton John of course

jogginggirl Sat 12-Mar-16 23:05:42

Atqui I've just done my first flight in over 5 years so I guess I'm on the right track......

Elton John ... grin
