Only Connect - can we raise a team?

No-one has replied to your wonderful post! - I love Only Connect, but get so few connections that I would be no use to you at all! I am however good at the round with the missing vowels.

I love Only Connect but the only thing I'm any good at is the connecting wall. I'm afraid I was never much use at lateral thinking!

I agree. I enjoy Only Connect but with admiration for all those intelligent, lateral thinkers!!!!!

Egg heads is hard.... pitched against those people with better memories for knowledge than me.

DH and I are OK usually with the missing vowels and not bad mostly with the wall but the first two rounds give us trouble!

But it's a wonderful idea, hope you can get four lateral-thinking Gransnetters, Elrel!

Thanks for your interest and encouragement! We'd got 3 people definitely interested in an Eggheads challenge, may well apply when it opens again. There's one or two considering, I expect a reserve is needed, as for Eggheads, so most likely four are needed.

I should have said - I too am usually defeated by the connections rounds, better at the Wall and missing vowels. Such joy when I do get a connection!

I'll have a go. I'm quite good at University Challenge - except the maths and some of science and can do some of Only Connect and quite a bit of Mastermind General Knowledge round.

DH and I are fans too, I occasionally get the connections rounds and some of the walls. Like others I'm best at missing vowels.

Much as I enjoy the programme, and occasionally beat the contestants to a correct answer, I know I'd 'freeze' on TV.

Luckygirl, I agree with you. My sister 'can't stand that awful woman' but I think the persona she presents is an ironic self-parody. She's different on HIGNFY.

Yes she is and I like them both - probably because DH and I have a similar style in humour.

I would love to take part - we've watched from the start. But my mind isn't quick enough or flexible enough. Sometimes ok on the wall, and the missing letters, but no good otherwise !
Husband likes Victoria - she's a good poker player.

I would love to have a go at either, although I suspect I might do better on Eggheads rather than Only Connect. I have days when I get all the connections straight off but others when I just sit there totally blank
