Spent a happy hour last week, leafing through the Christmas TV magazine and ticking all the programmes that I want to watch or record to watch later. there was a surprising amount ( we have Sky which helps.) Most of all I want to watch the Christmas Downton.?

Sometimes a bit of lightweight entertainment just hits the spot.I have watched all the first series of Hunderby this week, hilarious, hush-ho!?

None, as neither of us will be holding the channel chooser/changer ;)
The price to pay- and a very small price it is.

It's day one of the Christmas Radio Times and I have highlighted Pointless Celebrities, Strictly and The Bridge. Are there any gems i have missed for today?

Call the Midwife....and menopausal women?
Sounds like a recipe for shocks all round!

Reminds me of delivering a supposedly menopausal lady of a 10lb baby boy. Her husband fainted and had to be taken to A&E to have his head stitched. It transpired that it wasn't his baby so very interesting conversations ensued!

The One Show is talking about War and Peace in the New Year. And they mentioned a new series of Happy Valley!

kittylester Fri 18-Dec-15 17:34:44

There could be the whole range of menopausal women - weepy ones, axe wielding ones etc with one poor man trying to cope. Do you think they's commission it?

M0nica Fri 18-Dec-15 17:07:01

None at all.

My favourite tv is BBC contemporary drama. When will it be commissioned gillybob, it will fit nicely between Last Tango in Halifax, Happy Valley and The Club!

gillybob Fri 18-Dec-15 09:51:05

I tend to end up watching the programs dedicated to small children anyway Charleygirl smile

Actually kittylester I happen to think it might make a rather good series. It could follow a group of menopausal women and their daily antics. Think of the special effects. Dripping night clothes, warm glows.... red blotches and lots of weepy moments (maybe that's just me) tchhmm

Charleygirl Fri 18-Dec-15 09:36:13

There is not a lot on this year if you are over 5 years of age.

Indinana Fri 18-Dec-15 09:31:53

I think he may have called it "Cull the madwolf" Alima tchgrin

Alima Fri 18-Dec-15 08:20:22

....they remind me of the French policeman in 'Allo, Allo.

Alima Fri 18-Dec-15 08:15:52

Don't you just love typos!! Ha, ha ha!

kittylester Fri 18-Dec-15 08:14:18

That's us then gilly!! grin

gillybob Fri 18-Dec-15 08:05:30

Call the midlife is a new gritty drama about women going through the menopause. grin

gillybob Fri 18-Dec-15 08:04:11

Downton for me. I haven't read any listings yet but I haven't been impressed with any trailers I have seen so far. Can't be bothered with call the midlife. I do like Mrs Browns boys unless it is a repeat of the last Christmas special?

Alima Fri 18-Dec-15 07:58:42

Call the Midwife, 'Enders, the Stick Man, penguin prog, David Walliams thingy, Mrs Browns Boys. Haven't read the listings yet so there may be more!

kittylester Fri 18-Dec-15 07:32:08

Most of the above! Also, we will record the All Star Sound of Music so we can avoid the adverts!

MadMaisie Fri 18-Dec-15 07:12:43

Tchsmile?

MadMaisie Fri 18-Dec-15 07:12:04

I expect I shall do the usual - record lots of things and end up deleting them because I can't find time to watch them! Downton and Call the midwife will definitely be watched, although as we will be away from home they might have to keep until the New Year.tchsmile

Mrs Brown's Boys, Dickensian,And Then There Were None,Bedknobs and Broomsticks, On Angel Wings, A Christmas Celebration,Brave, Call The Midwife and The Trouble With Harry starring the wonderful Shirley Maclaine.

Indinana Thu 17-Dec-15 18:48:11

Downton, Midwife, Carols from Kings, Dickensian, And Then There Were None - well, Aidan Turner is starring (he of Poldark fame) so it's a no brainer really tchgrin), Sherlock. Like Greyduster, much of this will have to be recorded. I quite fancy Snow Chick, next Wednesday, following an Emperor penguin hatching and trying to survive in the snowy wastes of the Antarctic.
Definitely not Strictly, Eastenders or Corry.

Greyduster Thu 17-Dec-15 18:26:20

My list mirrors bennan's really, except for Michael McIntyre (can't stand him). And of course, Carols from Kings. Most of it will have to go on tape. And Sean the Sheep "The Farmer's Llamas"!

rubysong Thu 17-Dec-15 18:21:19

Yes, Linbrikat I am looking forward to the Detectorists Christmas special. I only got into it in the second series but I really enjoyed it, they have some really great characters.

cayuga123 Thu 17-Dec-15 17:58:36

All the above minus Dr Who. My all time favourite is settling down to an afternoon with Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander. Love love love it. I recommend it.
