Spent a happy hour last week, leafing through the Christmas TV magazine and ticking all the programmes that I want to watch or record to watch later. there was a surprising amount ( we have Sky which helps.) Most of all I want to watch the Christmas Downton.?

Me too, but I do wish they wouldn't give so much away in the trailers!

Downton and Call the Midwife, not sure what else

Don't have a TV Magazine but perhaps should get one.
Definitely Downton and Call the Midwife.
Need the magazine to find out what else is on.

Downton Abbey and Call the Midwife

Haven't got any Radio Times but fancy the Agatha Christie thing. That was the last thing we saw in the theatre this summer.

Doctor Who Special. with the wonderful Peter Capaldi and the Doctor's wife - River Song (Alex Kingston)

When is the Dickens pastiche thing starting? Bringing together characters from several of the novels; should be fun!

Carols from Kings - just cannot imagine Christmas without it.

All of the above plus Sherlock and a bit of seasonal cheer from Eastenders.
I seem to have highlighted mostly BBC1 shows in spite of there being loads of channels to choose from.

ninathenana Wed 16-Dec-15 22:09:22

Oh yes, I forgot Sherlock and Dickens

adrisco Thu 17-Dec-15 10:47:33

Downton Abbey, Call the Midwife, Coronation Street and Not Going Out.

Bennan Thu 17-Dec-15 13:38:34

Downton, Midwife, Sherlock, Professor Branestawn, Not Going Out, Michael McIntyre, Dickensian and And Then There Were None> We're away so lots to watch when we return!! wine

Always the Queen - gawd bless 'er.

Sherlock and Dickens and hopefully there will be a good ghost story- dreary Downton I suppose but not Strictly Christmas - have had enough of that. Always watch Carols from Kings.

A tradition of my own is to re-watch Dr Zhivago used to be while DH was at work and I had sneaked an afternoon off. I would watch it with all the lights turned off a large sherry and some chocolate brazils- there sheer decadence of my pre retirement life appals me. Hopefully DH will go to Bowls and leave me to wallow in sin one afternoon.

Charleygirl Thu 17-Dec-15 14:10:05

Strictly, Downton, little else for me.

Anniebach Thu 17-Dec-15 14:59:16

Midwife, Downton and two days before The Third Man, I get goosebumps from the music

Linbrikat Thu 17-Dec-15 15:09:54

Hasn't anybody been watching the wonderful Detectorists? They're doing a Christmas special. Apart from that I mostly agree with everyone else - Downton, Strictly, Call the Midwife, Dr Who and Coronation St.

Teacher11 Thu 17-Dec-15 16:31:18

'Downton' for sure though my dear old mother will complain that it's too long and she'd rather watch 'East Enders'. The (grown up) children will want to watch 'Sherlock' and 'Dr Who', both of which will induce much adverse comment from grandma. I really want to see the final installments of 'The Bridge' as I will not be able to watch them when they are broadcast. A bit of Swedish miserablist noir is perfect for Christmas viewing, I feel.

cayuga123 Thu 17-Dec-15 17:58:36

All the above minus Dr Who. My all time favourite is settling down to an afternoon with Ingmar Bergman's Fanny and Alexander. Love love love it. I recommend it.

rubysong Thu 17-Dec-15 18:21:19

Yes, Linbrikat I am looking forward to the Detectorists Christmas special. I only got into it in the second series but I really enjoyed it, they have some really great characters.

Greyduster Thu 17-Dec-15 18:26:20

My list mirrors bennan's really, except for Michael McIntyre (can't stand him). And of course, Carols from Kings. Most of it will have to go on tape. And Sean the Sheep "The Farmer's Llamas"!

Indinana Thu 17-Dec-15 18:48:11

Downton, Midwife, Carols from Kings, Dickensian, And Then There Were None - well, Aidan Turner is starring (he of Poldark fame) so it's a no brainer really tchgrin), Sherlock. Like Greyduster, much of this will have to be recorded. I quite fancy Snow Chick, next Wednesday, following an Emperor penguin hatching and trying to survive in the snowy wastes of the Antarctic.
Definitely not Strictly, Eastenders or Corry.

Cher53 Fri 18-Dec-15 00:06:31

Mrs Brown's Boys, Dickensian,And Then There Were None,Bedknobs and Broomsticks, On Angel Wings, A Christmas Celebration,Brave, Call The Midwife and The Trouble With Harry starring the wonderful Shirley Maclaine.

MadMaisie Fri 18-Dec-15 07:12:04

I expect I shall do the usual - record lots of things and end up deleting them because I can't find time to watch them! Downton and Call the midwife will definitely be watched, although as we will be away from home they might have to keep until the New Year.tchsmile

MadMaisie Fri 18-Dec-15 07:12:43

Tchsmile?

kittylester Fri 18-Dec-15 07:32:08

Most of the above! Also, we will record the All Star Sound of Music so we can avoid the adverts!
