I'M ADNUMB

Yes, I'm adnumb. (Good word huh) says exactly what I feel, I am numb to adverts.

When on line I just zone out adverts, I just don't see them. If, by any chance, one impinges on my subconcious, it has no affect on me. I am not tempted to buy from them at all.

I watch ITV but use the ad gaps for making a cup of tea, going to the loo or making a quick phone call.

If I watch a programme I have saved to the hard drive, I zoom through the adverts every time.

When in a supermarket I buy just what I have gone it to buy and nothing else.

Has advertising had it's day? Or am I a bit odd? grin

I used to sit down with my sons and deconstruct advertisements with them when they were early teens. They learnt to see through the 'story' in the ads to work out what the advertiser wanted them to think - and why.

I think that trisheris right, if you don't pay rapt attention, you have no idea what is being advertised. All car ads just wash over me, couldn't tell you the make of car at all. Ads are more complex now, but the simple ads of the past made an impact, sometimes all you needed was the music or a bit of the jingle, Beanz Meanz.......

Persil washes.......
Don't forget the...... ...
Hoover beats as it sweeps as.... .....
Guiness is .... ..... .....
Your'e never alone .... . ....

I rest my case!

Here are a few more ( more jingles than anything)

You'll wonder where the yellow went .... ... ..... .... ..... ...

Hands that do dishes can feel soft as your face with ... .... .......

You'll feel a little lovelier each day with ....... ....... .....

My DH who is 11 years younger then me thought the answer to the first one was Steradent!

Sshhh Roses - there may be an ad man snooping on here and we could could back to those short, simple, catchy ads! At least nowadays they can just wash over you.

We record and replay an awful lot these days just to avoid the ad break as they can be so long we forget what we're watching.

I did see a brilliant tv ad the other night, apparently it's been voted the best of the Xmas ads on Twitter.
I've also read an article about it on Mail online just now.
It 's for Sainsburys and it's star is an accident prone cat called Mog.

Here's the link to Mog, I think it's good.

I think the cat in it looks a bit weird; reckon they were inspired to do it because of the popularity of the recent Paddington film [reminded of some of the chaotic scenes in that]. When I was still working, one of my bosses and I decided our dream job would be to find obscure music to use in films or adverts. The 'Counting Stars' song works really well in the current Littlewoods ad..slowed down a bit it's got a beautiful melody [imo].

That's a brilliant ad. The only Christmas ad I have enjoyed this year. Thanks Lona.

I saw the Mog advert last night. Really enjoyed it.

I enjoyed the Mog advertisement, though I doubt if it will persuade me to shop at Sainsbury's rather than my much closer supermarket. The animation is great and the story is fun for adults and children.

I don't believe it's Mog - see Mog pretender post. It's plainly an imposter trying to be Mog and not getting it quite right!
