The original one is full, having reached 1,000 posts shock, so I thought we could start again!

I am really hoping she will stand up to him and show us the other side. We could do with someone explaining to her - in the script - how he is manipulating her. Or ... she could talk to Helen and Helen may see what is happening and give good advice while realising her own position although sadly, I think someone in Helen's position would not leave at this point. Ugh. I have been switching off when Rob is on I hope this doesn't mean no listening at all sad

Nelliemoser Sun 11-Oct-15 23:57:10

I am taking this all too seriously as I am feeling anxious every time he appears in the script now.

Anne58 Mon 12-Oct-15 07:36:51

Who is Alex? confused

Nelliemoser Mon 12-Oct-15 08:26:50

A beau of Phoebe's I think. i might be completely wrong.

Anne58 Mon 12-Oct-15 08:46:41

Oh yes, I remember now!

merlotgran Mon 12-Oct-15 08:51:23

Alex is Feebs boyfriend. He's a lovely responsible chap hmm Kate found them in bed together and threw him out (she can talk!)

The Ambridge gold diggers will soon have to form an orderly queue.

So back to the evil Rob Titchner. Did anyone who heard Thursdays Archers with Helen, Rob and the Health Visitor, think the HV might have felt particularly concerned about Rob's apparently over protective behaviour and Helen's repsonses to the statutory domestic abuse questions?

I felt the HV by her responses seemed suspicious and that she was perhaps picking up clues from Helen's body language and her reaction to these questions that all was not well.
Or am I imagining things. Rob is giving me the creeps now.

You're right Nellie!

LullyDully Sun 18-Oct-15 17:52:08

The story line about Rob and Helen is quite slow and reasonably subtle so far. So creepy.

suzied Sun 18-Oct-15 18:08:08

But wasn't the HV won over by Rob making her coffee and boasting about what a great stepfather he was to Henry? So a possible ally of Helen lost there methinks.

merlotgran Sun 18-Oct-15 18:11:36

I think it was a bit daft of the HV or was it the MW, asking about domestic abuse when Rob was only in the next room. What was Helen supposed to say?

Nelliemoser Sun 18-Oct-15 19:27:30

Asking about DV is a required question and it could have been that the HV had already picked up Rob's attitude and had some concerns about how he was butting in on a lot of the questions directed at Helen. So the HV she felt she needed to ask this straight away.

By Rob pre-empting a lot of the questions directed at Helen, she was put into the position of not being able to do anything but agree as she is now scared of him. Any HV should be trained to look out for all sorts of subtle signs of domestic abuse including controlling behaviour. Her gut instincts that "This does not sound right." should kick into play. It certainly got my retired SW instincts twitching. I hate that man.

I'm trying to remember if there were any issues at Berrow Farm over Rob ordering substandard cattle feed? I know there were some problems with his record keeping so hopefully the cause of the deaths will be all his fault.

So what have we got now? Stefan's disappearance, the blocking of the culvert, violence towards a hunt sab, cheating at the cricket match, elbowing his way into Bridge Farm, abusing Helen, taking control of Henry....Have I forgotten anything?

Luckygirl Sun 18-Oct-15 19:45:05

What a rotter! - boo, hiss! It's like Linda Snell's panto.

Nelliemoser Sun 18-Oct-15 19:46:07

Merlotgran I was wondering if Rob has sabotaged the unit.

merlotgran Sun 18-Oct-15 19:51:17

I forgot blackmailing Charlie over the NYE kiss with Adam.

I wonder if he did anything deliberate to sabotage the unit at BF or is he so full of himself it never enters his head that he might just be bl***y incompetent.

suzied Sun 18-Oct-15 19:54:46

Homophobia, possibly sabotaging the DNA sample, could be added to the list of crimes.

LullyDully Mon 19-Oct-15 01:38:41

Do you think we could ask Rob to sabotage Linda's panto????????He could be the star. I'd like to see him up against her!

Iam64 Mon 19-Oct-15 08:37:43

Nelliemoser, I do hope your'e right about the midwife/health visitor picking up on the (not so ) subtle clues to Rob's controlling behaviour. Her comment about him being the perfect man made me hope his behaviour had ticked her inner abusive partner check list. She'd have to ask the question on that visit and she did so as soon as he left the room.

He really is a pantomime villain isn't he. I'd forgotten the cattle feed issues at Barrow farm. Is it possible he could be prosecuted if he's bought in substandard or contaminated feed, kept the extra cash and is therefore responsible for the deaths at Barrow Farm.

Does anyone else still wonder if he is the father of Jess's baby and managed to get round the DNA test, or is that a step too far on the villainous front

chloe1984 Mon 19-Oct-15 08:46:45

I am convinced that Rob is responsible for the outbreak at Barrow Farm, am also convinced he is the Father of Jess's baby. He will begin to 'take over ' the ghastly Henry and together they will begin to ignore Helen and her ideas and standards. Am intrigued as to what will happen over the Bridge Farm tea rooms , I find this story line almost as good as when Sid got together with Jolene. I really should get out more grin

Teetime Mon 19-Oct-15 08:56:12

I kicked the 37 year habit yesterday. I no longer listen to The Archers. Half way through yesterdays omnibus edition that DH and I have listened all our married life on Sunday mornings I was so bored I turned it off (he kept his on in his study). That must have been the dullest episode ever. Goodbye Archers.

J52 Mon 19-Oct-15 09:05:31

Rob is over keen on gaining Henry's trust and becoming a legal parent.

I wonder if once the baby is born, will Rob turn on Henry and isolate him from Helen?

Chloe, I am enjoying the Rob and Helen storyline, but for me it hasn't surpassed the Sid/Jolene shower scene!

NfkDumpling Mon 19-Oct-15 09:26:16

I think Stefan is at the bottom of the slurry lagoon and will surface with a pop and the whole thing will come out. Probably after they've taken the story down the Rob/Helen wife beating route.

Nonnie Mon 19-Oct-15 10:11:58

This is the first time I have come on this thread, think the long one rather put me off as I couldn't read it all.

I would like to think the MW did pick up on the vibes but my, somewhat limited, experience of SWs leads me to wonder if it doesn't have to be far more blatant than that for them to pick it up. Or maybe that is because my experience is of a woman controlling and abusing a man because that doesn't count does it?

Why hasn't anyone pointed out to Ruth that her mum died happy in her car, in her company? I do miss the odd episode but haven't heard anyone point that out. How is that going to get resolved? Will she have a breakdown?

What is going to happen to Roy? Will he be getting together with the new health club manager whose name I have forgotten?
