I truly feel that this should be means tested. There is no sense in subsidising TV licences for those who are well off and can afford to pay it themselves, really. Not sure I would opt to pay if others do not- would be much better to say anyone over an income of, say, £50.000 or 80.000 combined should pay, and be done with it. Same for bus passes.
