I remember being unsure at the end of the first series, and I am already slightly confused following tonight's episode. However, I was really looking forward to it, so I hope I shall be able to keep up. I need subtitles to help me!
What did others think of it so far?

DH just said, "Broadchurch is on tonight. I can't seem to follow it, can you?" I know this meant that he didn't want to be bothered watching it anymore. I replied that I couldn't follow it, either.....but I was going to watch it anyway. A bit like Tegan - just to get it out of the way confused!

rosequartz Mon 09-Feb-15 19:53:08

I can't stop now, it's like reading a book that you are not really enjoying, can't follow but have to finish!

Tegan Mon 09-Feb-15 20:05:35

The S.O. said last night that he thought it was the last episode tonight and I was quite relieved only to find that he'd got it wrong sad.

Ana Mon 09-Feb-15 20:08:06

I'm still enjoying it! Nothing much left now Last Tango in Halifax has finished...(not interested in Wolf Hall)

I did think that last week's episode was much better, so will watch it again tonight. So many red herrings to throw us off the scent, I'm not sure who has done what with who[we shall see!]

Tegan Mon 09-Feb-15 22:07:43

Did anything actually happen tonight confused? All style and no substance..think I'll give it a miss next week sad.

So, hang on.....The defence barrister's junior is so desperate for sex she is having a fling with the defendant's nephew (by marriage)

Really? hmm

Tegan Mon 09-Feb-15 22:19:12

Can we do a sort of family tree thingy of who's sleeping with who confused?

Ana Mon 09-Feb-15 22:25:57

Wasn't she just (or additionally!) trying to find some evidence. merot?

I'm still intrigued, but could do without the other murder sub-plot. Eve whatsit and her whippet-thin lover haven't engaged me at all.

Ana Mon 09-Feb-15 22:26:27

(Sorry - merlot)

Mishap Mon 09-Feb-15 22:28:25

My brain hurts! - and my ears. I have probably said this before, but I find it very hard to hear what they are saying - and I do not have a problem with other programmes. It is most annoying.

I got a bit lost in the last scene in the underground car park - who the hell were they? Hardy's wife and lover??

merlotgran Mon 09-Feb-15 22:28:44

You could be right, Ana. I think I'm going to have to watch this one again on iPlayer.

Ana Mon 09-Feb-15 22:36:36

Yes, Mishap, it was a flashback showing what had happened to cause Hardy to be banished to Devon - he'd taken the blame for losing evidence although it was actually his wife who'd left the locket in the car and gone off for a bonk tryst with her lover.

merlotgran Mon 09-Feb-15 22:41:06

Good job you're keeping up, Ana grin

Ana Mon 09-Feb-15 22:55:35

I know - I frighten myself sometimes! grin

Anya Mon 09-Feb-15 23:29:28

Mishap I've been watching with subtitles on (DH is a bit Mutt and Jeff) and I still don't understand what's going on. But then, given the events of the last 48 hours, I think I've admirably demonstrated that anyway grin

wanders off to check she's turned the gas off

PRINTMISS Tue 10-Feb-15 07:30:32

I THINK I understand it, but it is quite interesting anyway, so I will watch next week just to see if I am right - the other half seems to have lost the plot altogether, and it is too complicated to keep explaining to him!

lefthanded Tue 10-Feb-15 07:51:50

We're still watching it, but only so that DW and I can play "spot the filming location that you recognise". We gave up on the plot weeks ago.

Lona Tue 10-Feb-15 09:35:51

I saw the first two episodes and then missed four weeks. Thought I'd watch last night as there was nothing else on.
Apart from the necklace thing, nothing seemed to have changed much! grin
So glad she lost her rag with her son, he has a very irritating smirk!!

rosequartz Tue 10-Feb-15 15:58:51

Just to update you, Lona, as you missed so much:

Ellie has been suspended from her job as traffic cop as she was never at work and not bringing in enough revenue for D&C Constabulary to pay her
Fred's childminder has taken him off to live in NZ as she is the only one who cared about him
Alec had some really bad dentistry when he was under the anaesthetic and now his speech is less understandable than ever
He has also been suspended from work because he is never there
Claire and Lee have gone off into the sunset together to star in a remake of 'The Odd Couple'
Both barristers have been suspended because they have been consorting with the press
The judge lost her rag sorry - wig
Somehow, despite the fact that Beth and Mark never see each other, she is pregnant again.
Susan Wright is the mother of the vicar and they dunnit.

Apart from that nothing much happened grin
ps the above is about as believable as the plot

Kiora Tue 10-Feb-15 17:01:01

confused [ grin] [ wink]

Kiora Tue 10-Feb-15 17:01:52

bugger oh dear

Lona Tue 10-Feb-15 17:21:27

Thanks rose, grin I did notice the judge had no wig at one point! Beth's pregnant again??!! Is that another of your porkies?

grin I love it! Thanks.

Tegan Tue 10-Feb-15 17:48:16

rose; grin!!!

rosequartz Tue 10-Feb-15 19:12:54

I think the lovely actress who plays Beth is pregnant; I thought they were giving her a realistic post-baby little tum, but then I saw her on Breakfast last week!

Me, tell porkies? blush
