I have watched Easties since it started in a mindless sort of way. However I was absolutely drawn in by last nights episode. I've never been left so shattered by a TV programme before. Cabin fever? Good writing? Good acting? No idea why!!

You've got a very good point there Rubylady. I guess if a kid is into drama they will come up against all sorts of roles. Even if playing Oliver, the story involves a murder.

Pittcity: as the old reggae song goes "there are more questions than answers" !

After reading your link, I don't think I can cope with anymore! I'm glad I live in reasonably uneventful place! x

Pittcity Fri 20-Feb-15 11:11:28

There were two murders near here, must be a year ago, which haven't been solved. Think they should try the schools.......duff duff duff etc.

ninathenana Fri 20-Feb-15 11:17:18

Thanks Pittcity

grumppa Fri 20-Feb-15 11:33:57

Thanks indeed, Pittcity, but who on earth is the drunk but not untruthful Jake?

kittylester Fri 20-Feb-15 12:13:31

Jake was married to the woman who bought Tanya's beauty salon and he had an affair with Lauren. I think they met at AA and he might have had an affair with someone else confused

Marelli, he's the black bloke who gave Ronnie flowers and a gun! She didn't want the flowers!

And, was Dean dead? shock

tanith Fri 20-Feb-15 12:19:02

confused doesn't even cover it..grin my problem is it all happened so long ago I can't remember what the heck was going on at the time anymore.. why is Ben angry with Lucy?
I guess he and Jay buried the phone and purse once they realised she'd died as Ben had just nicked them from her bag and they didn't want to be implicated ... still confused

glammanana Fri 20-Feb-15 14:22:22

All we need is Bobby Ewing to step out of the shower and all will be revealed grin

Marelli Fri 20-Feb-15 14:53:41

I suppose he would be revealing quite a lot, stepping out of the shower, Glamma winkgrin!

grumppa Fri 20-Feb-15 15:21:07

Thanks, Kittylester. And am I right in thinking that Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) is supposed to be Ian's mother? She now looks younger than he does, though I suppose ghosts don't age.

tanith Fri 20-Feb-15 15:55:16

I said exactly that to OH grumppa , we then had a long conversation trying to remember who Bobby's Mother was... I had to look it up.

kittylester Fri 20-Feb-15 17:34:40

Wasn't Bobby's mother Miss Ellie? Or was Kaffy his mother? confused

Ana Fri 20-Feb-15 17:36:05

It was Laura, as someone said earier. Pushed down the stairs by Janine.
(I remember because I was still watching it then!)

Nelliemoser Fri 20-Feb-15 18:07:15

All of which rubbish. Is why I stopped watching several years ago.
At least the Archers hasn't been quite as totally Barmy.

kittylester Fri 20-Feb-15 18:09:12

I meant Bobby Ewing's mother was Miss Ellie - possibly.

And I did know that Laura was his mother really - just goes to show how confused I am by it all! Time for wine I think!!

Ana Fri 20-Feb-15 18:21:04

Oh I see, kitty! (not even Eastenders would have had Kath as Bobby's mum...shock )

harrigran Fri 20-Feb-15 18:30:22

Kathy died in a car crash in South Africa when Ben was ten and that was why he came to live with Phil, is she a ghost ? Will the other ex wife turn up and actually succeed where she failed the last time she shot Phil ?

Jane10 Fri 20-Feb-15 20:38:28

Blimey what grotesque over acting by 'Ian'!

rubylady Fri 20-Feb-15 22:30:26

Thanks Jing. The difference though would be if you are in Oliver, you know the script before you act it out whereas if you are in a soap then the writing of the script evolves and you wouldn't know what was going to come up for your character in time to come. His parents were asked if it was ok, but other child actors/singers have had weird outcomes to their lives due to being exposed to adult situations too soon, Macaulay Culkin, Lena Zavaroni, Lindsay Lohan, Brittney Spears etc. I just wouldn't like it to mess with his head when he's only a child.

Janine was charged with Laura`s murder, but actually, Laura tripped and fell downstairs. Still can`t grasp why Cathy is being brought back, but they did it with Dirty Den though.

I want to comment on this thread, but have been away, and only seen up to the Bobbi bit.
I have only read the comments on here up to that point.

I totally bought that it was Jane at first. I had no idea why it would be her though.

ninathenana. I dont remember either. It was surprising to me how many bits of it I didnt remember, and maybe should have. But maybe it is a case of that not everything has been revealed yet.

Ana. Does it look down at heel? I hadnt noticed.

Ians beer belly. He seemed to acquire it all of a sudden.

Kim giving birth. I thought that she did well.
Bit unrealistic that she still had her nice dress intact, no blood etc.

rubylady. I am glad that sometimes a child killer is mentioned. I dont like taboo subjects.

rubylady Sun 22-Feb-15 06:58:02

soontobe I'm not against taboo subjects neither. I was just saying that I didn't like the fact that the actor himself was subject to such a story line. I suppose I'm a bit old fashioned and would like children to stay children and not for 10/11/12 year olds to be open to story lines of murder. I know these things happen in society and that we are more open with children these days but once the worms are out of the can, we can't put them back. I like the innocence of a child and at 10 years old, they are definitely still a child and in my opinion should be kept so for as long as possible. There is plenty of time for them to learn that the world can be a horrendous place.

soontobe Sun 22-Feb-15 08:47:32

I know where you are coming from rubylady.

I have now watched the other two episodes. I think EE handled it well, including the Bobbi bit.

I do think though that there is a problem with child actors in general. That they know and learn too much too quickly.
And that they groe up too quickly. In part I think, because instead of being surrounded by children a lot of the time, they are surrounded by adults. And are sure to find out and learn things that way too.

For what it is worth, I dont think in Bobbis case, that he will have been exposed to very much this week. I could be wrong. But hope not.

rubylady Mon 23-Feb-15 02:39:47

Thanks soontobe It isn't helped though by the fact that the family are saying they will cover it up. It tells children that if they do something wrong that they will effectively "get away with it". Surely they should be putting out the message that there are consequences for actions taken, no matter what age?

Jane10 Mon 23-Feb-15 07:21:44

Too soon to say what is going to happen. Generally soaps are pretty moral. It may take time but it will all come out in the wash. Got to keep the storylines going!
