Have you watched Bluestone 42? Tony Gardner plays a Colonel in Afghanistan. It is hilarious and full of lovely men in uniform. Series 2 is repeated late tonight on BBC1!

rosequartz Fri 16-Jan-15 20:14:58

Ooh, no.

He's a doctor too then?

rosequartz Fri 16-Jan-15 20:15:21

And not that young .....

yogagran Sat 17-Jan-15 20:37:56

What's happened to John's partner, the one who lost the baby? We haven't seen her in this series have we. Wasn't she the one who was often drunk?

joannapiano Sat 17-Jan-15 20:50:39

She's gone to stay with her sister in St.Albans.
Perhaps I'll bump into her in BHS! grin

Played superbly by Ronni Ancona, the impressionist who works with Alistair McGowan.

Don't forget to tonights episode! I have forgot to record it the last 3 weeks and had to catch it on BBC player (which took me over my download limit and put my bill up grrrrrrrrrr..).I shall now go down and set the recorder..before I do anything! else.

rubylady Mon 19-Jan-15 00:10:14

bikergran I didn't know you had a download limit on iplayer? Does that mean that the BBC get you one way or another? I know that you don't have to pay your license fee if you watch on iplayer only but I didn't know they charge if you go over a certain amount of programmes watched?

janeainsworth Mon 19-Jan-15 05:48:04

Not the BBC Ruby but Biker's broadband provider. Packages come with a limit and if you just use email and look at newspaper articles online or play short clips on YouTube you probably won't exceed it.
But watching entire programmes on iplayer can take you over your limit and incur extra charges.

Would someone please remind/tell me who Holly is that appeared at the end of last night's episode. I don't remember seeing her before!

gillybob Mon 19-Jan-15 13:04:34

Was she not the young nanny yogagran?

yogagran Mon 19-Jan-15 13:07:31

That's how she appeared last night gilly but Caroline obviously knew her and i don't know why

janeainsworth Mon 19-Jan-15 13:07:44

I don't think we have seen her before. I got the impression she was a former pupil of Caroline's who left university because she wanted to be a nanny.

gillybob Mon 19-Jan-15 13:35:59

Yes janeainsworth that's how I understood it too. Caroline remembered her as an ex pupil who had gone off to uni and then left/dropped out. She said that she had always wanted to be a nanny. I must say I am really loving it. I do hope Caroline doesn't confide in Celia about Gillian's terrible secret. Mrs Goody goody would have to go to the police wouldn't she?

janeainsworth Mon 19-Jan-15 13:57:21

Or Raff tells Robbie about John staying the night..........!

annsixty Mon 19-Jan-15 14:03:16

As my mother would have said "there will be tears before bedtime...." .

Can't wait.

gillybob Mon 19-Jan-15 14:42:44

Oh Jeez yes ! That would put the cat among the pigeons janeainsworth Not sure whether Raff would be so spiteful though as he does seem to be pleased for his mum. More likely John will be the one doing the telling............

I know it's not real.
I know it's not real.
I know it's not real.
I know it's not real.
I know.............

Soutra Mon 19-Jan-15 14:51:07

confused
What do you mean it's not real? It's real just like Downton and The Archers!!grin

GillT57 Mon 19-Jan-15 15:27:12

I think Raff, the teenager, has more maturity and responsibility than the adults!

felice Mon 19-Jan-15 15:28:43

Watched this for the first time last night, seem to remember that originally it was a comedy/drama, feeling a bit down just now and that just about finished it.
had to phone a friend to find out what was going on.
Not for me.

Gagagran Mon 19-Jan-15 15:32:04

Gillian is my favourite character. She's just so human. Brilliant actress. I would like to think that Robbie guessed what had happened to Eddie and knew what a bad lot he'd been to Gillian and doesn't care because he has loved her since she was 16. (I'm just an old romantic).

That girl who plays the would-be nanny has been in something else where she talked a lot - non-stop in fact. Can't think what it was though. Royle Family?

Still feel a bit suspicious about Gary, Alan's long-lost son. Don't quite trust him somehow.

Gagagran Mon 19-Jan-15 15:36:02

No it was Downton - she played the maid Ivy. The actress is called Cara Theobald.
