Crikey Tegan The Yardbirds! They were a local group in the sixties and one of them lived next door to a school friend in Hampton. We thought she was so cool!
A lot of songs I like to hear are from the sixties but also the stuff that was on the radio when I was a child. "Two way Family Favourites" anyone?
Rosequartz we used to listen to Dire Straits tapes driving across France for family holidays. DD complains that she knows the words to their songs when she was only born in 1984!

Don't suppose anyone used to go to 'Mothers' in Birmingham? I saw Jethro Tull and Keith Emerson there. And the Kinks at the Town Hall.

I have the same here with my GDs Purpledaffodil - If I have a Manfred Mann CD on or Bon Jovi, when certain tracks come on, my GDs start singing along with them must be that genetics thing

The Zombies, 'She's not there'. Still sounds as fresh as ever. Also anything by Free. (I saw Free at an all night gig in a stately home barn, many many years ago.)

Thinking of that song for some reason reminded me of the Pushbike Song (anyone remember that?). When we stayed at my aunt's caravan once (I'd have been about 13/14) and that ooh ooh, ooh ooh ah bit came on, my aunt, who was normally quite a staid person, suddenly went into this weird kind of dance to that bit! Even sitting here now remembering it, I'm chuckling away.

How about hedgehoppers anonymous? It's good news week.

Tegan. I saw the kinks at birmingham town hall. I threw a bright pink scarf onto the stage and dave davies put it around his neck.

I wonder if it was the same night? Must admit that I don't remember an awful lot about it; can't even remember who I went with . Remember more about going to Mothers cause I was trying to look dead cool but tripped over walking through the door .

Tegan. I remember the kinks thing quite well. I always went with the same group of school friends. We sat behind the stage at the back. Never went to Mothers but knew some people who did. Happy days. First time i wore heels to a disco thinking i was grown up and tripped and went flying across the dance floor.

That's why I tripped over as well. For some reason have a very vivid memory of going to a disco at Matthew Bolton Technical College and hearing Elton John sing Lady Samantha for the first time [not meaning that Elton John was actually there or that it was the first time the song had been sung].

Went to Mothers once (got in on borrowed membership cards) and saw the Moody Blues! I loved Nights in white satin. I also recall it being rather "smoky" in there with a very sweet smell!!!

Someone mentioned Pat Boone earlier. Now I haven`t thought of Pat Boone in years, even though IK did quite like him back in the days, but for some reason, I`ve had his version of "Friendly Persuasion" going through my head all this week, it won`t go away!

My cousin was obssessed by "Tell Laura I love Her" I can't remember who sang it, but it was always on her record player when I went round there. I think it was the first song that I knew all the words to.

I think he was killed in a stock car race! Remember Terry by Twinkle?
Now he was killed on his motor bike. Such cheerful stuff!
