Strictly - shall you?

Juts read the article in RT (in Smiths don't buy it) re Strictly Come Dancing and it looks dire - no Brucie and a guest list of no-one I have ever heard of except that coarse fruit and veg man and Andy Murray's sour faced mother.
I suppose I will get sucked in but I think its a record and wiz through job now - I like watching the professional dancers but can't stand the rubbish that Tess talks.
Will you be watching?

Is there a connexion between taxidermy and poor old Barry Manilo? I've seen more lively mummies in Egypt!

annodomini Sun 23-Nov-14 20:46:02

He was singing with a dead man, after all, papaoscar!

numberplease Sun 23-Nov-14 21:02:34

And the dead man put in the better performance! A fair result this week. It`s going to get harder to decide from now on.

gillybob Sun 23-Nov-14 22:26:40

He was terrible wasn't he papaoscar he looked like he had been in a wind tunnel and his face had stuck. Or maybe it was his own wax work they put on stage? An awful song singing over the top of a lovely song in a completely different rhythm and tune. What was that all about?

Deedaa Sun 23-Nov-14 23:08:05

I thought someone had embalmed him and it had all gone horribly wrong grin And that whole item was just a mess!

papaoscar Mon 24-Nov-14 17:45:46

Slightly off-thread, but those of a nervous disposition may wish to know that Mr Manilo, or what remains of him after his Strictly performance, will be appearing on the OneShow on BBC1 at 7pm tonight.

NanKate Mon 24-Nov-14 17:50:44

Will it be a seance PapaO ? hmm

specki4eyes Fri 28-Nov-14 11:35:02

Wasn't he dire! And to think that young women used to throw their undies at him back in the 70s..but i didnt get it then either! Did they make a mistake with the track - it sounded as though they were singing different songs to me. Poor old thing - let him go back to Madame Tussauds!

I wish they'd lose the backing dancers. They're a distraction. It's no wonder poor Jake bumped into one of them.

Charleygirl Sat 29-Nov-14 20:52:56

I agree, each couple had at least 3 this evening.

annodomini Sat 29-Nov-14 21:16:32

The backing dancers are a distraction and do not enhance the performance. I thought the idea of an Argentine tango to Zorba the Greek was absurd and it turned out to be an awful mismatch of styles.

Soutra Sat 29-Nov-14 22:46:23

Mm bit of a bad choice and it could prove Jake's undoing. Mind you I think Sunetra is lining up to be the next one to go don't you?

Jane10 Sun 30-Nov-14 10:28:29

Yes, unfortunately I think the skids are under her. Its a shame as she`s a lovely dancer but some of the others are just so brilliant. I thought Pixie was undermarked as she was on first. She`s just so talented and has such charm somehow. I find Jake to be downright distasteful. The sexy stuff is awful. Maybe if he wasn't so downright unattractive it would seem more acceptable. Maybe that's just me though. I simply cant understand how he`s such a Casanova on East Enders!

papaoscar Sun 30-Nov-14 17:39:12

Bring back Brucie and his old jokes, perhaps, just to remind us how things used to be...

sparkygran Sun 30-Nov-14 18:46:00

Oh please no don`t bring back Brucie I beg you. I agree with Jane10 Jake just dosen`t do it for me - blush he is just so plain. Come on Frankie you`re my favourite.

Lona Sun 30-Nov-14 19:00:56

Me too sparky I think Frankie is great. Much better than Pixie. I really don't get why they all keep raving about her.

papaoscar Sun 30-Nov-14 19:57:20

Sad to see Sunetra and Brendan go, they will be missed.

NanKate Sun 30-Nov-14 20:15:58

I can't bare all the dithering about on results night so have not bothered to watch the programme just came straight to Gransnet and just read the results - what a excellent way not to be irritated by Tess and her inane chat, some of the others are almost as bad.

Claudia and Zoe could run the show better.

rosequartz Sun 30-Nov-14 20:20:12

Oh no, not Sunetra!

Ana Sun 30-Nov-14 20:23:50

Sweaty Jake should have been in the dance-off tonight!

POGS Sun 30-Nov-14 20:26:50

Shame anybody had to go. What an excellent group they have been this year.

Pixie from the start for me and I am sticking with her. Dance off between her and Frankie in my book.

Sunetra certainly did herself proud. Well done that girl.

merlotgran Sun 30-Nov-14 20:26:55

Brendan seemed thrilled to bits that Mark is staying. Couldn't put him down. hmm

Eloethan Sun 30-Nov-14 20:47:33

I hated the horrible "tough boy" grimacing that accompanied Jake's "sexy" moves - yuk.

I like Caroline and Simon the best so far.

pompa Sun 30-Nov-14 20:49:09

Another fair result. Sunetra was (IMO) the poorest performer on the night.
She has not improved much over the last few weeks, whereas the others have.
They were all good, it is getting very hard to split them, all down to the night.
I think Brendon accepted that it was their time to go.

numberplease Sun 30-Nov-14 21:02:41

I thought that Jae was very lucky tonight, not to be in the dance off, because no way did Mark deserve to be there. Thank goodness that justice prevailed.
