Is anyone else in training for Wimbledon? I watched 2 whole hours of Roland Garros yesterday! grin

What a great match between Andrey Kuznetsov and David Ferrer. Kuznetsov epitomises intelligent playing - such smart tactics, no wonder he won even though he has low ranking. I'll look forward to watching him again.

Yes, he is NanKate, he seems like two different people, on the court so twitchy, and off the court so nice.

NanKate Tue 24-Jun-14 22:43:03

Thank heavens Rafa won after a pretty tricky first set.

I know his rituals can annoy some people but he really is a lovely, well mannered young man and is gracious when he loses.

Tegan Tue 24-Jun-14 22:25:32

Another Tsonga fan here. Couldn't bear to watch the Nadal match when he was doing so badly in the first set; I really thought his nerves had got the better of him. I think of the main players Djokovic was the one that seemed to sail through his first match.

Been watching tennis again, hope nobody makes a sarky remark, although I will never be a fan it is something to watch if theres nothing else on. If the girls put their balls up their knicker leg like one did yesterday where do the men put their balls. after all theres plenty of guys returning the spare ones.

whenim64 Tue 24-Jun-14 20:39:11

I know what you mean, Lona. If you're not used to watching Nadal gear himself up, you'd be forgiven for thinking he has severe OCD. He seems to have accumulated more funny little rituals to go through before each serve.

Soutra Tue 24-Jun-14 19:51:32

But nice pert little bum blush

Lona Tue 24-Jun-14 19:41:25

I know that soop will hate me saying this wink but I can't bear to watch Rafa. Those bl**dy tics and twitches and pulling at his undies and his bits all the time.............. it drives me mad!
Why doesn't he get some decent underpants, and shorts that aren't see through?

Rant over.................sorry when grin

It could have been any time after 11.30 am if they played on an outside court, Sparkygran. I wonder if it will be shown on the highlights this evening.

sparkygran Tue 24-Jun-14 18:28:28

Oh whenim64 you are a star I still haven`t out the result and they have just given all the results. When was it finished was it this morning I was at my painting class? He is a lovely player and have always followed him with interest and that`s nothing to do with his good looks!!!!!!!!!!

whenim64 Tue 24-Jun-14 17:33:34

Nadal v Klizan - what a fabulous match! Nadal is like a tightly coiled spring - his rituals before each serve are taking longer to complete, but seem to psych him up to be so powerful. I love watching him.

whenim64 Tue 24-Jun-14 16:53:08

Tsonga won the match, sparkygran. Good to see he's gone through to the next round - he's a lovely player.

sparkygran Tue 24-Jun-14 16:36:59

HELP can anyone tell me has the Tsonga v Melzer match rained off last night been played yet? And if so who won I am a great Tsonga fan and am desperate to know the result - can`t find him anywhere on the Net and then thought the people who will know are G`Netters - am I right?

ffinnochio Tue 24-Jun-14 16:33:12

Looks like this is the one to follow smile tennis

sparkygran Tue 24-Jun-14 14:08:11

Anyone watching the match currently showing on BBC2 Hewitt v Przysiezn wasn`t the tie-break in the second set nail-biting? Then Hewitt was able after all that to take the 3rd set can`t help but admire his stamina

whenim64 Tue 24-Jun-14 08:18:10

Nice to be patronised as soon as one gets up in the morning, feetle hmm

feetlebaum Tue 24-Jun-14 08:04:05

It is, after all, Lawn Tennis...

whenim64 Tue 24-Jun-14 08:02:20

I was thinking the same thing yesterday, Soutra. It's much easier on the eye to watch a fast game with only green and white to contend with.

Soutra Tue 24-Jun-14 07:23:46

Thank goodness for
a) tennis whites
b) well behaved spectators who actually have the manners to y Shush! when asked nicely
c) immaculately attired line judges- shirts and chinos, not track suits
d) ditto ball boys/girls
e) even more ditto umpire including panama hat
f) restful green grass instead of "hot" orange clay which looks even worse with orang or pink or acid yellow outfits
which brings us back to doh tennis whites

We really enjoyed watching the programme on BBC1 tonight remembering Andy Murray's win last year. Lovely reflections from his mother, father, girlfriend, grandparents and other family members. There were also some great shots of fans in their moments of anguish/celebration.

But why did James Corden have to make an appearance. Is he now a career hanger-on?

NanKate Mon 23-Jun-14 21:29:54

I agree about the commentary at times being awful at Wimbledon.

Tonight I was watching Tsonga and another chap who had a stomach upset and had to dash to the loo twice. One of the commentators, not Tim Henman, made a horrid schoolboy comment as follows 'well he'll feel a lot lighter after that bathroom break' if I knew who to complain to at the BBC, I would say that sort of juvenile humour is not appreciated. Rant over.hmm

BeeWitch Mon 23-Jun-14 19:17:22

I enjoy watching Wimbledon. Wisely have invested in earplugs - don't like all the racket the players make (excuse the pun) and can quite happily do without the commentary. Result. Bring on the Pimms ... wine

rosesarered Mon 23-Jun-14 10:28:59

I think feetle means making noises when serving. grin
Thanks for that tip Tegan I shall use that [jockey club races.]smile
