I think this is one of the best 'comedy' programmes on tv.

Loved the 'my friend is a uranium' comment last night.

Anyone else watch it ?

KatyK Sat 08-Mar-14 11:50:24

I LOVE it! We laughed at the 'uranium' comment too grin

Lona Sat 08-Mar-14 14:42:58

First time for me, but I loved the huge nipples behind those two men!
(And the 'uranium' comment!)

And those nails!!!! Yuk!

Tegan Sat 08-Mar-14 15:29:12

Oh, I forgot it was on. Only discovered towards the end of the last series. Is it repeated?

merlotgran Sat 08-Mar-14 18:00:11

Love it and DH finally 'gets it' so he thought it was hilarious as well. I hope Steph and Dom are not persuaded to over egg the posh/pissed image. I thought they were a bit OTT last night.

June and Leon are still the best.

Ana Sat 08-Mar-14 18:02:36

I agree, Merlot, I think Steph and Dom were playing too much to the camera last night.

Not sure changing the time slot is a good idea, it was the perfect programme to wind down to before.

KatyK Sat 08-Mar-14 18:29:27

Steph and Dom have been on other programmes I think. They were on Four in a Bed - apparently they run an 'upmarket B&B'.

Ana Sat 08-Mar-14 18:31:46

Just realised the thread title is wrong! It's Gogglebox not Googlebox!grin

ginny Sat 08-Mar-14 18:37:25

Ooops ! grin never mind just caused another laugh and you can't have too many of them.

Bumped for petra

Carolebarrel Sun 09-Mar-14 16:20:57

Such fun! I laughed at the young guy who never said a word - just looked totally disgusted by his family! grin

dollie Sun 09-Mar-14 16:40:44

What a rubbish program made worse by the people playing up to the cameras for effect!!! And i for one dont particularly want to have to listen to the F word!!!

penguinpaperback Mon 17-Mar-14 08:24:07

I watched this programme a couple of days ago. Thought I was going to give it 5 minutes and give up, but I really enjoyed it. grin

Lona Mon 17-Mar-14 09:45:16

I watched it again, mainly because there was nothing else on, but I could feel myself getting wound up by the inane comments.

caroleb that young man summed it up really! grin

I caught up with the repeat of Fridays programme last night and must say I didn't find it as funny as the previous series [found it a bit difficult that they were making light entertainment out of the missing aircraft as well]. It made me think of a toddler who is genuinely funny but then, having realised he can make people laugh tries to do so again but the naivety that made the remark funny isn't there.

Ana Tue 18-Mar-14 10:15:03

I agree, it's not the same. Too self-conscious. I think Channel 4 has made a big mistake in changing the time to an hour - three quarters was just enough before.

And they all seem to be using the 'f' word now! shock

Tegan Tue 18-Mar-14 10:19:45

I like the elderly couple though; are they new?

Ana Tue 18-Mar-14 10:40:41

No, they were certainly in the last series at least. June and Leon, retired teachers - they are funny, in a very natural way.

merlotgran Tue 18-Mar-14 10:54:25

Once again a format is going to be ruined because it has become a surprise 'hit'. It was better off in an obscure slot where viewer's expectations would not be too high. There's far too much swearing now and Steph and Dom have become a parody of their former selves and no longer funny.

KatyK Tue 18-Mar-14 11:00:14

I agree merlot. We watched a series last year called The Chicken Shop. Just hidden cameras in a friend chicken shop in London. You just saw the antics of people coming in and out of the shop. It was brilliant - very funny. Then it became a 'hit' and they did another series. They started going into the lives of the customers, visiting them at home and such like. It lost it's spontaneity and was no longer worth watching.

glammanana Tue 18-Mar-14 15:44:46

I forgot to watch it on Friday I must do a catch up,but found Steph & Dom just a wee bit too full of themselves last week, maybe their 15mins of fame has gone to their head a bit.?

TAB12 Tue 18-Mar-14 20:54:39

love this programme, it is so entertaining and is good to get an insight into other peoples lives. The couple that own the Guest House are so loving, I think that is quite un usual at that age, they are lucky to still have that strong love for each other.

Rosannie Tue 18-Mar-14 21:15:52

Carolb I think the bored /hapless young man is the daughter's boyfriend. He's probably wondering what he's getting himself into !

Ana Tue 18-Mar-14 21:18:16

All I will say is that I'm very glad he's not my daughter's boyfriend...hmm

Rosannie Tue 18-Mar-14 21:25:59

I love for him to say what he's thinking!
