Anyone watching? Am loving the Nigerian competitor's outfits. Thought she was easily the best last night.,

Mmmm I do like Patrick grin

I recently saw some personality talking about the wonderful designer who was making dresses for her and I'm sure it was Chinelo.

Anticipation is well and truly in the air as we not-so-patiently await the arrival of The Great British Sewing Bee 2016 on the BBC on 5th May. Will there be sobs over snapped needles, hysterics about hemlines, blow-ups over buttonholes? And, most importantly of all, will Patrick still have a moustache?

One thing we do know about GBSB series 4 is that May Martin will sadly not be joining Patrick in judging the sewists’ efforts this year – instead, costume designer and co-founder of fashion label Swanky Modes, Esme Young, will be casting her expert eye over their finished garments. May, we’ll miss you!

Oh I do dislike the relatively new term 'sewist'. But I see the problem with established words - needlewoman and seamstress are sexist (needleperson? seamperson? hmm). Then there's dressmaker, but that excludes other forms of sewing, so that's out as well. Sewer? Fine if only used verbally, but once written there is an obvious confusion of meaning!
So I think we're stuck with sewist - but you won't catch me saying it!

Can't find it on tv planner for 5 May but I did read elsewhere it was starting in May, no specific date. Looking forward to it.

I am really looking forward to the new series. I was disappointed to hear that there was a new judge, but relieved that Patrick is still in it!
