Lona Fri 10-Jan-14 10:54:15

I could do with 'a wonderful experience' since I'm now 'commando' under the bimbazine! Ooops should have been bombazine grin

merlotgran Fri 10-Jan-14 10:48:33

Right away, M'Lady. Hang on.... Don't I call you Grandmama or something daft now we're related??

I'm afraid I'm only going to Aldi. Should be a wonderful experience for you. hmm

kittylester Fri 10-Jan-14 10:31:18

Later!! wink

Lona Fri 10-Jan-14 10:14:32

grin kitty I'm afraid you will have to look for alternative employment.
I cannot have any staff liasons below stairs! Impertinent minx

Please ask Tom to bring the car round, I shall require him to take me to heaven town.

I'll have you know I'm a lady's maid - I don't do scrubbing apart from scrubbing for Tom. keep your thieving hands off.

newist Thu 09-Jan-14 17:37:09

Lona one would not expect a Duchess to scrub, anyway this should be Mrs Hughes, the house keepers problem, so now we need a scullery maid, and a scrubber

Lona Thu 09-Jan-14 17:11:45

That kitty looks like a candidate to me!......... keep your paws off Tom I'm having him first!

Lona Thu 09-Jan-14 17:10:12

Ana shock (lowers eyes modestly) I couldn't possibly!
Eye em a Duchess! shock

newist Thu 09-Jan-14 17:05:21

Lona we do have a mangle and a poss tub In the wash house. Like Ana says we do need a scrubber to operate the scrubbing board. Oh dear where to find a scrubber in Downton Abbey????

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-14 16:44:11

I volunteer to help Tom search for whatever it is he's lost grin Especially if it involves cream horns gringrin

Ana Thu 09-Jan-14 16:22:18

Perhaps you could go commando, Lona? No one will notice under all that bombazine...

Ana Thu 09-Jan-14 16:20:58

No, the last old scrubber washer-woman made eyes at His Lordship and had to be Got Rid Of sharpish!

Lona Thu 09-Jan-14 16:12:42

grin grin Stop it you lot, my drawers will need laundering at this rate, and I don't think we've got a laundress have we?

Elegran Thu 09-Jan-14 15:49:35

I've got 12 cream horn moulds, we can make our own. (no - I've got 18. inherited 6 from mother, 6 from auntie, and six of my own) I've not used them for years.

newist Thu 09-Jan-14 15:20:04

We will do whatever it takes to get Toms cream horns. I hope he finds what he is looking for.

merlotgran Thu 09-Jan-14 15:15:31

Tom's in the village driving up and down outside the school trying to look as though he's searching for his lordship's lost pocket watch (probably nicked by Thomas) hmm

If you're very nice to him, he'll bring back some cream horns from the tea room. grin

Ana Thu 09-Jan-14 15:15:06

I'd say Thomas would be a better bet...hmm

Elegran Thu 09-Jan-14 15:14:43

Enlist him at once!

newist Thu 09-Jan-14 15:11:23

Tom may have a strong wrist action.

Elegran Thu 09-Jan-14 15:09:02

I was going to offer to make all those posh people upstairs my mother's trade-mark souffle omelette, which got her a ten-bob note tip from Florrie Desmond in the early thirties, but I need Daisy to hand-whip the egg whites. It needs someone with a strong right wrist and the ability to keep beating for some time. Do you think any of the male outdoor staff would volunteer?

Ana Thu 09-Jan-14 14:14:58

grin

newist Thu 09-Jan-14 14:12:40

Better still, 1 day on, 1 day off, we still need a Daisy though, to do the boring bits. Please Gnetters, many more are needed to fill in the forms to find a Daisy.

kittylester Thu 09-Jan-14 14:12:16

But, too many cooks spoil the broth and, for all I know, the quails' eggs, the pheasant, the salmon, the venison and probably most other things.

Anyone seen that nice Tom? grin

Elegran Thu 09-Jan-14 14:06:25

We can duel with the soup ladles.
