Anyone watch this and now considering giving it a miss now Brian has left the series ?

Lona Thu 12-Sept-13 18:12:46

I used to enjoy it but i haven't bothered with this new series, I think it worked well before.

Charleygirl Thu 12-Sept-13 18:24:13

I agree, I miss Brian but I am still watching it, there is little else.

Ana Thu 12-Sept-13 18:27:24

I love Denis Lawson in it, and Nicholas Lindhurst has been a revelation.

I thought I'd hate it after Brian left but I'll stick it out until Amanda Redman leaves - that's a step too far!

Ana Thu 12-Sept-13 18:31:12

More to the point - what's happened to the theme tune? confused
This week it was some wishy-washy instrumental rubbish...

Anniebach Thu 12-Sept-13 18:35:18

I have only just caught up with Brian leaving , I didn't know Amanda Redman was leaving too. I will watch the rest of the series but no Brian and Esther and I still miss Jack, oh bother

HildaW Thu 12-Sept-13 18:36:25

I adored Brian....but quite like Nicholas's character its rather good.
However, like Ana I will be sorry to see Amanda go.

Perhaps the instrumentalising (new word methinks) of the theme tune might be a hint to eventually getting rid of dear old Dennis?

JessM Thu 12-Sept-13 18:41:12

My DH loves it so we watch it. I think that there has been and still is some awful acting (Waterman and Bolam) and good acting from the other two (and Esther). Was well overdue for an overhaul. The two new chaps (and Holly) are great. There was some really terrible writing one episode just before Brian left but it has looked up since then. Waterman still a terrible ham though.
And at least it has lots of parts for older people.

Ana Thu 12-Sept-13 18:44:20

I know this is 'lookist' and possibly 'ageist', but Dennis Waterman hasn't worn well, has he...?

wisewoman Thu 12-Sept-13 18:44:35

There is so little worth watching so will persevere until Redman leaves and then decide. The Gibralter episodes were ridiculous and I nearly stopped watching. Doc Martin is getting ridiculous as well. Sigh! May just have to curl up with a good book and give up on TV altogether (apart from Montalbano - old and young)

j08 Thu 12-Sept-13 18:49:20

Can't stand the programme. DH loves it. Think he's watching it now. hmm

Deedaa Thu 12-Sept-13 22:21:55

It's one of the few things DH will watch with me, but I do miss Brian. I'm presuming the rather nice foreigner will be the reason Amanda leaves wink

Deedaa Tue 17-Sept-13 22:29:35

Said he would be the reason she left grin

Aka Tue 17-Sept-13 22:48:12

Depends who will replace her.....

Ana Tue 17-Sept-13 22:51:03

I really liked her character - don't think I'll ever watch with the same interest again.

harrigran Tue 17-Sept-13 23:05:41

Amanda Redman has very obviously had a face lift since the last series. Storylines are poor but we still watch.

Aka Tue 17-Sept-13 23:44:30

Has she? I thought she'd just lost weight.

kittylester Wed 18-Sept-13 07:15:18

I thought 'the leaving' was a bit if a damp squib last night - mind you I did go to sleep for 20 minutes in the middle - or maybe that proves my point. grin

LizG Wed 18-Sept-13 07:21:33

I quite enjoyed the storyline but was sorry to see her go without 'a bit of a do'. I like the new characters, it beefs it up a bit but would like to see how they get all the information that they spout.

Brendawymms Wed 18-Sept-13 07:40:36

This weeks episode was good with a terrific story line. I believe that Amanda has had some 'work' done on her face, well she looks different. Will see how the new team jell and then decide on future watching.

kittylester Wed 18-Sept-13 08:02:39

I enjoyed the storyline but thought Amanda Redman's character would have had a more 'dramatic' leaving.

feetlebaum Wed 18-Sept-13 08:15:23

Giving up on watching a series because one or another actor has left the cast seems illogical to me... I thought the ending with Sandra not looking back was quite moving... and I was glad the writers didn't essay some dramatic tragedic finish.

Nice to see Sandra getting some at last... (!)

Pining for Bolam or Armstrong is pointless - they have gone on to do other things, that's all.

Grannyeggs Wed 18-Sept-13 08:15:28

I haven't watched it yet, but am sad she has gone ,was it with the Frenchman who was in it before,? I'm not sure it's going to have the same appeal with a brand new cast, sometimes these series should just be allowed to die in conjunction with the departure of th originals. I'll give it a go though.

Maniac Wed 18-Sept-13 08:41:50

I was very irritated last night by the unnecessary and inappropriate background music.-even in the sessions in the interview room.!!

MrsM Wed 18-Sept-13 09:02:03

I agree about the music

Other than that I enjoyed the episode - both the serial killer story and the 'in-house' stuff
