Strictly will return to Blackpool Tower in November. Draw for tickets now on BBC shows websitesmile

I loved it on Saturday evening and I even liked Vanessa which is a first. Sophie's charleston was fabulous but there was something missing, it did not come from her heart if that makes sense.

Susanna was great as was Mark and and I also loved Rachel Riley. She will get a lot of votes I think from Countdown fans. There are a lot of good dancers and it was only the second show.

I could take Artem home.

Poor Tony. I thought he was almost tearful after Craig's brutal assessment of his dance on Saturday night. After the first weekend it was evident that he wouldn't survive and I suspect he will be relieved to have been put out of his misery. Voting on line is great!

annodomini Mon 07-Oct-13 10:10:52

Am I alone in finding Julien nauseating?

kittylester Mon 07-Oct-13 10:21:02

Anno, no!

Charley, join the queue!

GrandmaMiney Mon 07-Oct-13 11:04:19

anno no! But I guess it takes all sorts--at least we only have to see him on the box (and we can go and get a wine while he's on.

I had terrible trouble finding the actual voting screen! I kept going to the blog which told me I had to register (which I had already done), but I only 'happened upon' the voting screen yesterday--yonks after the deadline.
So I had to phone my vote!
anno please tell me how to do it, in time for next week! confused

Can't stand Julian McD either I thought he was (if anything)even worse than Tony Jacklin which is probably what Tess/Claudia meant when she said the judges would have a hard decision!!!grin
Vanessa's simpering faux-naive girlie perfomance I'm afraid I found unconvincing - she is a feisty lady and needs to act her age - be elegant, not an ageing juvenile lead!!!

Hi, GrandmaMiney here's the voting screen. They don't put the names up until the dancing is over. Then you can vote for your favourite. I read somewhere that you can have five votes, but every time I voted, I saw the words, 'vote again'. I didn't, but it was fun deciding which five I'd vote for. I suppose you could keep on voting for the same one.

nightowl Mon 07-Oct-13 11:38:39

I am really enjoying this series - some strong contenders (including Susanna) and not too many irritating ones.

Grandmaminey my OH declared on Saturday night that Susanna is far and away the most attractive woman on there. He was not aware of the gransnet connection!

shysal Mon 07-Oct-13 16:53:47

I tried to vote from my tablet, but it stated that this was not possible, nor was it for mobiles. I suppose they would lose a lot of revenue if it was that easy to vote for free!

I know that Tony was by far the worst dancer, but would have dearly loved to see the back of Julian first, he really grates on me! I loved Susanna, Sophie and Ashley`s performances, Abby`s as well, but she looked very miserable and sulky after her dance.

Cate Mon 07-Oct-13 20:34:52

I am fed up with pop music being played for Latin dances. It has lost its appeal for me.

merlotgran Mon 07-Oct-13 21:09:30

I agree about Abby, number. What was all that about? Sulky little madam!!

Deedaa Mon 07-Oct-13 22:34:17

Abby doesn't seem to have any personality at all. Looks very lovely gliding about in a beautiful dress, but that seems to be all you get. Perhaps she'll warm up if she stays in?

Lona Mon 07-Oct-13 22:37:06

I don't know why the judges thought she (Abby) was so good, she just seemed to flounce around. I can't wait for her to throw a strop! grin

Aka Mon 07-Oct-13 22:50:52

Abbey wasn't sulking, she was trying to hold back the tears. She missed out parts of her routine. I think she was amazing for week 2 and one to watch.

Deedaa Sun 13-Oct-13 15:42:33

I thought Susanna was really lovely this week!Sophie was very good, but I get the feeling that a lot of it is going on in her head and she's not sharing it with the audience - if you see what I mean. Vanessa is becoming really irritating. I'm warming to the Dragons Den lady because she's having such a good time ....... and Artem had his shirt open - so that's all good!

GrandmaMiney Sun 13-Oct-13 18:56:25

I agree Deedaa, I thing Dragon Deborah danced really well. She has entered into the spirit of Strictly wonderfully and is working hard and having such fun. Great to see.
It remains a nerve-wracking experience--once they get through one week (although who knows what might happen in the next hour!) it all starts again for the next week's dance! It is a real eye-opener. as people don't seem to realise what incredibly hard work they put in for their few minutes of 'glittery glory' and it stretches nearly all of them. I could chart the stress levels, which have now fallen into a weekly pattern--until the balloon pops.

Thank you for positive comments on daughter dearest, I had to go to Sheffield yesterday and only just got home in time to vote--but could only see the snippet of her dance! Luckily I could see the whole programme on i-player this morning, but it's not the same as watching it live.
I hope Dave stays in tonight wine

Aka Sun 13-Oct-13 21:43:51

Who went out? I missed it this week.

merlotgran Sun 13-Oct-13 21:46:53

Vanessa.....as expected, I think.

Aka Sun 13-Oct-13 21:58:58

Thanks Merlot ... she was dire.

Deedaa Sun 13-Oct-13 22:05:44

It's like that with any sort of physical activity isn't it GrandmaMiney ? People see someone dancing, or cycling or show jumping and think "Oh I could have a go at that, it doesn't look too hard" They don't see the hours of sheer physical effort that goes into it. After all Michael Schumacher was one of the fittest sportsmen in the world - but all people saw him do was sit in a car!

GrandmaMiney Sun 13-Oct-13 22:35:55

So true Deedaasmile

I thought it was a bit hard on Vanessa and she deserved another week or two. Not sure how Julien managed to survive two dance-offs...?

janthea Mon 14-Oct-13 11:10:21

GrandmaMiney I agree - not sure how Julien survives! Dave seems to be having fun but will he last much longer?

I thought your DD was brilliant. I've been reading in the paper about Natalie's dancing experience. It does seem a little unfair on the rest of the contestants who have little or no experience. hmm

Charleygirl Mon 14-Oct-13 11:30:08

I think that this week it may well be Julien and Dave in the dance off and out of that pair, Julien may survive again!

Susanna was really good but her eye makeup is dire.

Natalie will go very far I think.

annodomini Mon 14-Oct-13 17:24:51

I've been staying with family who don't watch Strictly - I'm so ashamed of them! - so have just spent a happy hour or so, watching the recordings I made. I was thrilled with Susanna's Viennese waltz. All that spinning round must be positively vertiginous. It was also wonderful to see someone like Big Ben doing such a sexy rumba. I'm so pleased to have got rid of Vanessa who seems to think she is still a little girl! I wonder how long Dave will last - he is so obviously having fun.
