merlotgran Sun 08-Dec-13 20:01:29

Well done, Susanna and Kevin. wine

Oldgreymare Sun 08-Dec-13 20:02:21

Phew! And Hoorah for the girls!

Oldgreymare Sun 08-Dec-13 20:03:30

Evening Galen, you beat me to it with the phew! xx

hummingbird Sun 08-Dec-13 20:03:45

Yay! Well done, Susanna!

annodomini Sun 08-Dec-13 20:10:33

What a cheer they got from the audience! They really are the public favourites. I was sorry for Ashley and Ola but I really didn't want to lose Patrick.
Pick yourself up off the floor, GrandmaMiney!

Lona Sun 08-Dec-13 20:13:13

I do love Len, he always sticks to the rules.

GrandmaMiney Sun 08-Dec-13 20:42:29

Thank you, thank you, thank you --all of you, for your support and, of course, for your votes. I think maybe you can imagine the relief surging around here, but it was good to hear the audience's reaction and feel she does deserve her place in the semi-final.
I think some people have criticised DD's 'thank you's' when she has been voted through, but I can assure you they are spontaneous, sincere and genuine. Our first thought is of gratitude to those who support us flowers--including the wonderful gransnetters on this thread.
I was sorry to see Ashley go--I just wish they could have had the final tonight as I really like all of them. But I imagine Ashley's new baby will be happy to get to see his Dad--not to mention the baby's mum--at last Ash should be up for 'night duty' smile
Have a wonderful week--I'll try to keep quiet xx

MrsSB Sun 08-Dec-13 20:53:24

Well done Susanna. Just shows how important the public vote is. Sad for Ashley, but at this stage it was always going to be someone good who had to go as they are all so good now.

janthea Sun 08-Dec-13 20:59:06

Phew. She deserves to be in the semi final.

whenim64 Sun 08-Dec-13 21:05:03

Well done, Susanna! smile

Charleygirl Sun 08-Dec-13 21:12:06

The one thing that I have liked about Susanna is that her "thank you" has always appeared to be spontaneous and genuine. She has a lot of genuine votes from "us lot".

Soutra Sun 08-Dec-13 22:09:53

That was a bit of a nail-biter wasn't it? Although others have said it before me I will say it again "Whew!"

I know Len is a stickler for detail but IMHO he is becoming more of a boring old f*rt while Craig is a regular Mr Nice Guy. I wish I knew what happy pills he is on - I'd get some for DH tchhmm

merlotgran Sun 08-Dec-13 22:14:51

Len is getting on my nerves. He's gone from being a kind and fair judge to a loud mouth and a bit of a bully. OK so he didn't agree with the other judges tonight but his vote was not called for so he should put up and shut up.

annodomini Sun 08-Dec-13 22:34:53

I felt bad for Patrick when Len launched into that tirade about the other judges' votes. He has always been a most entertaining performer and deserves his place in the semi-final.

Lona Sun 08-Dec-13 22:53:16

The problem is that everyone's decided that SCD is an entertainment show, but Len still thinks that it's a dance competition.
Someone should tell him.

Deedaa Mon 09-Dec-13 00:04:55

So pleased to see Susanna get through. I was so nervous I could hardly watch the results. It's really going to be all down to the public now isn't it? They are all good enough to go all the way, it just depends on whether anyone makes a mistake or whether the dances suit them.

GrandmaMiney Mon 09-Dec-13 00:40:13

Off to bed now, having caught up with a few jobs that had been sidelined over the last 30 hours.
Thank you all so much for the encouraging comments--I feel as if you're all here on the sofa with me, which is lovely.
Now I'll put the wine back in the fridge (it's a Sauvignon blanc!) until next week.
Actually I might buy a bottle of brandy, if it's on Christmas special offer. I have a feeling we might be in need of a quick nip or two if the tension gets any higher--which it will in the semi-final on Saturday.
Really pleased that KFG has got to the semi-f in his first SCD season. DD was so afraid she'd let him down. Could someone please send DD an extra dose of energy to see her through the week (which is looking even more hectic than usual)--and feed Len some stabilising smiley pills!
Have a good week and take care out there. (Goodness, anyone remember that throw back from Hill Street Blues? No, you're far too young!)
tchsmile

PRINTMISS Mon 09-Dec-13 08:12:00

I agree with Len on this, it is a DANCE competition, otherwise, why have winners and losers? It invariably boils down to personalities rather than dancing, and so we always have this 'argument' toward the end of the show. The professionals are troupers, and know the rules, they must also be aware that having a popular tv personality as a partner will help with the voting. Life has never been fair, and a a bit of disparity never did anyone any harm.

ginny Mon 09-Dec-13 08:18:08

Lona It does tend to be partly based on the entertainment side but it is a dance contest. Otherwise why all the rehearsals and comments about how they have improved. Maybe Lens comments were a bit harsh but I have to say I did agree with him. Also agree about Natalie and Artem, brilliant dancers but a bit too precise and clinical for me. Will add my congrats. for Susanna she always puts a smile on my face.

Lona Mon 09-Dec-13 09:46:51

ginny If you watch It Takes Two, when Craig and others are interviewed, they say that it's all about entertainment. That's the problem, some think one thing and some think another!

The producers should make their minds up and then there would be no bad feeling.

I love 'Kevin from Grimsby' and I'm really pleased that Kevanna have got through to the semis.

Deedaa Mon 09-Dec-13 21:12:15

I remember Hill Street Blues GrandmaMiney It was one of my favourite programmes for years smile
Onward and upward next week! It's anybody's competition now.

rosesarered Thu 12-Dec-13 22:13:42

GrandmaMiney Susanna is a lovely girl, not just attractive with a great smile, but a genuine 'trooper' who always does her absoloute best and I really enjoy her dances, she gets better and better and I hope she and KFG win the competition!

numberplease Fri 13-Dec-13 00:09:59

Also great to see Kevin win the Drunken Sailor world record, well done!

GrandmaMiney Sat 14-Dec-13 07:41:20

Saturday again, and I really am trying not to bore you with my increasingly jangly nerves. As well as all your interesting and varied SCD thoughts, you are a great and much appreciated support group, so I can't promise not to be back on this thread for help later this evening. Please have wine at the ready.
I'm off to support DD's middle son who has a football match this morning. Football is his life! But we shall all be glued to SCD tonight. DD was 43 on Tuesday, and no one over 40 has ever won SCD.....nor many working mums, Let's just hope she can do a good Salsa and smooth Foxtrot tonight and the GBP (and Gransnetters) keep voting ...03. Despite a tough working week and ending up on antibiotics for a chest infection, she's still smiling tchsmile and enjoying every minute of this fantastic experience.
Great about Kevin's world record (ITT Thursday). Go for it Team Kevanna!
