Anyone watch that episode? So sad. Will be sorry to see Tanya go.

Tegan Fri 28-Jun-13 20:54:59

I never watch Eastenders but was channel hopping and caught the end of it. Can you fill me in with what actually happened?

First Max' s tarty wife wife had to confess she was not pregnant (he saw the negative pregnancy test). Cue big drama and he finished with her. Max goes to Tanya' s to cry on her shoulder but finds her packing to go to Exeter to take wots er features - the drunk kid - to a clinic along with Abby and Oscar. Abby refuses to go. Says she will stay with grandma and dad. Big drama scene, Max trying to persuade Tanya not to go. They eventually decide that they will always love each other but it won't ever work. Cue black cab.
Classic 'taxi pulling away from square' thing.

Phew!

Its been a while since I've watched, do Angie and Den still run the pub? grin

j08 Fri 28-Jun-13 21:46:47

Funny! hmm wink

I hope Tegan comes back and reads that lot! [ hmm]

Tegan Fri 28-Jun-13 21:47:20

Thanks j; didn't know about the tarty wife bit. At least I can [sort of] understand women finding Max attractive but never got the Phil Mitchell succession of wives/girlfriends confused.

Tegan Fri 28-Jun-13 21:48:56

.....Oh boy; can you precis the last 10/20 years j?

j08 Fri 28-Jun-13 21:49:59

Not right now no. grin

I did wonder how they were planning to catch a train to Exeter at that time of night. It was very dark and as it's midsummer it must have been very late. Do they still have night trains (not round here they don't). And even if they do, should she be taking a young child on it? Where would they stay? And should she have thought about getting Oscar in a school in Exeter first? All in all, a bit irresponsible of Tanya I thought. But then the OH told me it's not real so I stopped worrying and made a cuppa instead.

grin

Marelli Sat 29-Jun-13 10:13:01

Had a similar conversation with OH as well, nightowl. How is it that on soaps, people can pack a bag in 5 minutes, get a bus/taxi and go out into the wild blue yonder without having organised somewhere to stay first? And how do they have enough money to hand to do it? (Unless they were going to use their credit card hmm). Had they all had something to eat before they left - oh maybe I'm just too cautious! grin

nightowl Sat 29-Jun-13 10:17:37

Glad it wasn't just me Marelli grin

I am a big EastEnders addict, and shall particularly miss Tanya as she is so well played by Jo Joyner. But, gosh, sometimes they do mess up! It is totally unrealistic that she could just take off like that, at night, with her children and no real plans. However, do we want soaps to be like real life?
Maybe it's the daft bits which make it entertaining!

grumppa Sat 29-Jun-13 11:10:42

Why, having buried Max alive a few years ago, did Tanya relent and dig him up again?

Tegan Sat 29-Jun-13 11:28:09

And when they have babies and young children they just carry on as normal and don't seem to nave to stay at home looking after them. Having said that, the standard of acting in a lot of soaps is amazing [remember when whatsername had the baby at Christmas].

nightowl Sat 29-Jun-13 11:31:05

And why does no-one ever mention the fact that she buried him alive? Or that Lauren ran him over? Have they forgotten? Or just agreed not to talk about it any more? I would find it quite hard to carry on loving someone who buried me alive, whatever the provocation grin

nightowl Sat 29-Jun-13 11:33:02

Which whatsername was that * Tegan*? Having a baby at Christmas seems to be a recurring theme in all the soaps grin

Tegan Sat 29-Jun-13 11:47:26

The one that was a bit chubby and then got thin [nothing to do with the pregnancy]. It was at the time when the family used to make me sit through Eastenders on Christmas Day confused each year. nightowl; maybe the burying alive was meant to be more metaphysical [is that the right word??]. I seem to have missed quite a lot of happenings since I stopped watching it.

j08 Sat 29-Jun-13 12:06:17

You''ve stopped watching itTegan?! I can't do that run-down for you every day! hmm

Tegan Sat 29-Jun-13 12:11:54

It's ok j; by the look of it once every 2 years should be enough smile.

j08 Sat 29-Jun-13 12:26:26

Right- o then. I can do that.

Pittcity Sat 29-Jun-13 16:02:29

In Tanya's kitchen there was a box of "Special Flakes"....think this explains their behaviour!! wink

PRINTMISS Sat 29-Jun-13 17:42:57

It's great isn't it how we still follow a programme which is so totally unbelievable, and create a thread! It is awful but we watch it regularly, and then wonder where the ideas come from and of course the producers don't really expect us to believe it - or do they? I just love the way they produce babies then carry on as if nothing had happened- who looks after these babies while they go off to the 'Queen Vic'?

Marelli Sat 29-Jun-13 18:42:43

You know the one who used to be a teacher? Is she still a teacher? Her son works in the garage and his real father's just turned up. She's the newly found daughter of Tanya's mum....confused. Anyway, why isn't she going to work at the school anymore? Or is she - have I missed something (else)?

j08 Sat 29-Jun-13 18:46:59

'ang on. I'll have to think about that one..............
