How fantastic was that?! Best thing on television I've seen in years!

merlotgran Mon 04-Feb-13 22:36:59

Just great. Loved the music. Can't wait for tomorrow's episode.

j07 Mon 04-Feb-13 22:40:05

Yep! Great music! smile

glassortwo Mon 04-Feb-13 22:58:49

Loved the music smile

Me too!

Watched the first 15 minutes then deleted - I hate jazz!

Tegan Tue 05-Feb-13 09:14:21

I half watched it. I used to love Stephen Poliakoff stuff but after The Lost Prince he sort of lost his way. I don't like the music, either. I'll dip into it tonight and see how it goes.

What I thought was particularly good was that amidst all the glamour, wealth, sunshine and light, the stage is being set for some very dark events - some of which have already happened/started or have been hinted at.

j07 Tue 05-Feb-13 09:35:04

Exactly bluebell! There is a lot more to it than the music really.

bluebell Tue 05-Feb-13 09:49:46

Can't wait for tonight - will record Death in Paradise so don't miss that

j07 Tue 05-Feb-13 09:58:36

Now, I have only ever enjoyed one episode of Death in Paradise! confused Maybe I should give it another go.

bluebell Tue 05-Feb-13 10:31:31

it's just lighthearted froth - the good end happily and the bad unhappily - I think Oscar Wilde said something like that about that was what fiction was all about (can't get this sentenceany more elegant - sorry) Anyway the scenery is great - I want to go there

kittylester Tue 05-Feb-13 10:35:12

I love 'Death in Paradise' - gentle and fun. Haven't watch part one of 'Dancing on the Edge' as we didn't realise it was on again tonight [panic emoticon]

janthea Tue 05-Feb-13 12:11:54

I've recorded it and not watched it yet. Wasn't sure whether I would enjoy it as I don't like jazz. Still, I'll give it a try.

bluebell Tue 05-Feb-13 12:56:51

Janthea - forget about the jazz bit - that's just the music. Please try it!!

BAnanas Tue 05-Feb-13 13:03:06

I enjoyed it, although I am not a great fan of jazz I do like it from that era. I have read a couple of books about King Edward VIII when he was the Prince of Wales and his younger brother George, who was at one time a heroin addict and allegedly Edward helped him break his addiction. Prince George died young in a plane crash in the 1940s, some conspiracy theories suggest he was bumped off. I have also read about the black American and West Indian jazz musicians who were playing over here in London clubs in the 1920s/30s. for society people.

I think it's visually stunning- had to google the location. It's Ragley Hall in Warwickshire.....went a couple of years ago, it's well worth a visit just for the grounds.

glammanana Tue 05-Feb-13 14:25:42

I'm off to watch it on catch-up now,I missed the beginning and just caught the end, what fabulous clothes and the music out of this world a mixture of blusey/jazz .

ninathenana Tue 05-Feb-13 19:08:52

Loved it!!
Those of you who don't like jazz. Forget that, as many have said.......give it a try.

merlotgran Tue 05-Feb-13 22:46:00

As expected, the dark undertones are rising. Excellent stuff!

bluebell Tue 05-Feb-13 23:37:07

Yes great - have to wait until next week now

Nelliemoser Tue 05-Feb-13 23:44:39
