I'm anticipating howls of protest but I love, love, love, Strictly Come Dancing.
So this thread is for all things Strictly. Can't wait!!!!

Anton always draws the short straw when it comes to dancing partners, though Anne Widdecombe had comedy value. However, he is a winner in that he has acquired celebrity on TV in his own right. Saw him briefly (before I switched off) in a ghastly game show called Hole in the Wall when he was apparently wrapped in tinfoil. grin

Russell was a dream wouldnt it be nie to have him as a next door neighbour?
They have to get rid of Nancy she's not even funny.

LOVED last nights programme!! Jason was fabulous, and our local boy Robbie just gets better and better,Nancy to go tonight PLEASE!!

numberplease Sun 16-Oct-11 16:44:12

Will hate to see the back of Anton, he`s lovely, but please let`s get rid of the awful up herself Nancy.

mrshat Sun 16-Oct-11 17:59:28

I get the impression Anton really does not like Nancy and finds it difficult to work with her. I think it is her attitude more than her lack of dancing skill. Time for her to go. I missed most of last night's show as dear GDs and parents called unexpectantly - which was really lovely and enjoyable - but it was a bit noisey and chaotic around Strictly time. Looking forward to tonight's programme as DH is away and I have the house (and TV) to myslef - bliss!grin

poor Dan! that was a surpriseshock

Annobel Sun 16-Oct-11 20:22:07

OMG - how has she escaped? I have to assume it's a sympathy vote for Anton!
I rather liked Dan; although he wasn't the greatest dancer, he wasn't by any means the worst and has a nice smile.

numberplease Sun 16-Oct-11 21:26:47

When Nancy was in the last 2, I was convinced that she was going. What a shock to hear Dan`s name instead. People are obviously voting for Anton, couldn`t be for her. I would have put Audley in the last 2, not Dan.

Jacey Sun 16-Oct-11 23:24:53

So agree numberplease ...with all points.

Have often wondered what would happen if we had a negative voting system instead ...voting for the one we wanted to leave!!

Sbagran Mon 17-Oct-11 07:53:31

Negative voting would be a great idea Jacey but the crafty blighters have used the 'who do you want to see dance again next week' as a great move to make the money!
I know of several people who are currently voting to keep in several people - result = more cash from the phone calls.
If it was a negative vote I suppose they could vote more than once for the one they want out but would they?
I too was surprised that Dan went as I felt he had potential sad

numberplease Mon 17-Oct-11 15:48:31

I think if they went back to the last 2 dancing again, then the judges deciding from that performance, that under those rules Nancy would have gone this week.

Jacey Mon 17-Oct-11 16:28:11

yes numberplease ...wouldn't that be a good idea ... can you remember why they stopped it? or perhaps the studio audience could vote between the final two ...after all ...it is all recorded on Saturday night!!

numberplease Mon 17-Oct-11 18:02:08

Yes, Jacey, I`m sure that would work. Don`t know why they try to kid us that it`s on a separate night.

Annobel Sat 22-Oct-11 12:30:55

If only I could think of a way to vote Nancy out... Perhaps we could have a 'set Anton free' campaign?

gracesmum Sat 22-Oct-11 12:48:30

What is it about Nancy we all don't like? Is it her total absence of a sense of humour? Is it the Barbie-doll face and body? Is it that she can't dance - or even walk in a straight line? I wonder - all I know is that I want her OUT!!

Annobel Sat 22-Oct-11 13:24:12

All of the above, I think.

Annobel Sat 22-Oct-11 16:43:18

I have just been reading the comments about Strictly on Facebook. Almost all of them were against Nancy. So if most of us and most of the Facebook poster can't stand her, who on earth is voting for her? hmm

Notsogrand Sat 22-Oct-11 16:47:17

Perhaps the BBC is voting for her? Nothing like a bit of controversy to keep the viewing figures up! hmm

Annobel Sat 22-Oct-11 18:03:58

Ohh, Notso - conspiracy theory! I like it...hmm

Jacey Sat 22-Oct-11 18:24:46

gracesmum probably everything you've listed ...but also, the fact that she's not a 'celeb' ...since when does an ex-partner of a football manager receive this "status"?? confused
I know some of the other contestants are maybe only minor ones ...but does this mean any old lawyer can walk in off the street and take part??

hmm could one of us just volunteer? confused ...now there's a thought!!

Which gransnetter should we volunteer?

Sbagran Sat 22-Oct-11 20:44:44

Got to be jingly-jangly!!! grin

Jacey Sat 22-Oct-11 20:55:11

Yes ...I must admit jj was the one I had in mind too! grin

Annobel Sat 22-Oct-11 22:08:16

Jason came off his pedestal tonight! But he's sure to be back there again soon. Good for Chelsee - that quickstep was high octane! And Craig had high praise for it, so it must have been perfect. I am sure the judges are trying to get rid of Nancy - hope they'll succeed this week.

jinglej Sat 22-Oct-11 22:27:53

shock

My daughter walked in the door today, took one look at me and said, "hello my little pot-bellied pig"! shock So perhaps I had better start leaping about a bit! hmm

jinglej Sun 23-Oct-11 10:33:02

Perhaps I had better add, as I seem to have shocked you all into silence, that she did quickly add "Some people keep them as pets and love them very much".
