I'm anticipating howls of protest but I love, love, love, Strictly Come Dancing.
So this thread is for all things Strictly. Can't wait!!!!

Too much padding (not in the dresses obviously) for the time the program is on but fills in an evening. Saturdays are notable for lack of quality these days (Ant & Dec and X Factor to name but 2)whatever happened to the likes of Cilla or Val or Rolf who had good variety shows, Casualty a notable exception of course but that is getting a bit tired after all these years. I suppose the phone cash goes to good causes but its all rather inconsequential even if colourful in HD

What poor girl will be dancing with Russell Grant???

Jacey Wed 07-Sept-11 19:24:33

Well it looks as if someone has decided who we are likely to vote for!! confused

I'm really looking forward to watching Strickly. In particular Lulu.
I'm a fan. So roll on the weekend!

HildaW Wed 07-Sept-11 16:16:04

Dear oh dear...........what a mottley crew!

Yummygran Wed 07-Sept-11 15:17:41

It would be great if a Grandma won...I'd vote for Lulu.

Jacey Wed 07-Sept-11 15:00:12

Saturday night ...BBC 1 ...6.10pm ...The launch Show smile We get to find out who's dancing with whom!!

Yummygran Wed 07-Sept-11 14:46:24

I love Strictly too, I went to see Brendan in his tour last year, GREAT! That would be my dream, to dance on the show....guess I'd have to have 'celebrity' status though first, whatever that means these days haha!

janreb Wed 07-Sept-11 13:58:01

Well I know who 7 of them are. Think I'll back Jason D, not greatly impressed by the line up.

Jacey Wed 07-Sept-11 09:47:23

Well ...I recognise 8 of the names ...that's more than I usually do at the start of the series ...I've also signed up for the newsletter on the BBC web- site. smile

Agree em about the ex-wife confused

em Tue 06-Sept-11 21:39:18

Some I don't recognise at all, some I like and then there's the dreaded Nancy woman. Has ever such a non-celebrity made so much of nothing?
Think I'll back Jason D, Lulu and Edwina C. Jason D starred in Priscilla, Queen of the Desert and the choreography was spectacular so I don't expect him to be rubbish! Lulu is a Scot and almost exactly my age and who knows what might happen with Edwina C?

Annobel Tue 06-Sept-11 21:01:38

I'm rooting for Jason Donovan!

GrannyTunnocks Tue 06-Sept-11 20:08:26

I like lulu I hope she does well.

Hattie64 Tue 06-Sept-11 19:49:01

They have all been announced now, so what do you think??? Edwina Curry, that should be amusing, Lulu - em not my most favourite person. Anyway it all looks promising.

HildaW Tue 06-Sept-11 14:52:15

See there is going to be a reveal on The One Show tonight.....!

Annobel Tue 06-Sept-11 09:43:17

I don't loathe Brucie, even though he is pretty cheesy. He's part of the TV scenery, isn't he? And completely harmless, unlike some modern comics who (dis)grace our screens. I like the way he greets his audience: 'lades, gentlemen and children', emphasising the family nature of the show, although some of the more raunchy dances and costumes (Oo-er Ola!) seem to belie this description.

Notsogrand Tue 06-Sept-11 08:46:32

Apparently Lulu will be appearing in Strictly this year, I wonder if she'll be this year's Pamela Stephenson?

numberplease Tue 06-Sept-11 00:24:25

Only just spotted this thread. Grandmaagain, thank goodness I`m not the o nly Brucie fan on here, I`ve loved him since I first saw him in a seaside show at Babbacombe in 1956! Hubby likes him as well, so no problem there, our rows start when he gets it fixed in his head right at the beginning who`s going to win, then he gets really ratty if they don`t! We went to see Brian Fortuna`s show last year, really miss him on Strictly, he has a lovely bum!

Notsogrand Mon 05-Sept-11 22:04:07

Not long now!

glammanana Wed 24-Aug-11 20:57:34

nanapug so glad you like BB I think the last two have been really great and the celeb's on this one is the best yet I think, who ever thought up Sally Berscow and Paddy Docherty are genius,I am just waiting for the big fallout

Hattie64 Wed 24-Aug-11 20:06:09

I don't just loathe Brucie, I really absolutely loathe him. He gets pots of money for making all those stupid jokes as well. I wonder which two they have put together with the lurve aspections???

nanapug Wed 24-Aug-11 14:02:22

Love Strictly, loathe Brucie, also love Big Brother. There I have said it!!! Get very cross when people criticise me for enjoying BB, in a supercilious way. I love the psychology of it and think it is very clever. Millions of people can't be wrong......

Annobel Tue 23-Aug-11 20:57:33

I sometimes think they will run out of celebs. So many are decidedly C-list!

Hattie64 Tue 23-Aug-11 20:38:20

I am always slightly miffed initially, as there always seem to have a lot of soap stars on it, as i don't watch soaps, haven't a clue who they are. Claudia is not on it as she is pregnant, or just given birth.

susiecb Tue 23-Aug-11 09:13:40

Oh Yes anton for host definitely Bruce is a national treasure but he is making himself look ridiculous now with his silly little dance and pathetic staged jokes cant say I am a fan of Tess either really. who would we love to see as contestants here's a few

Ruby Wax
Dawn French
Rik Mayall
Stephen Fry
dont know her name but Geordie comedienne
Miranda Hart
