Does anyone know what the TF stands for on the policeman's shoulder of his uniform? Is it an Irish 'Gaelic' abbreviation? It's been bugging DH for ages, and my answer of 'The Fuzz' didn't help...! confused

I have never looked at his shoulder, I mainly gaze at his face, especially that little scar above his lips!!! I didn't think much of his choice of woman to bed, she had a sort of 'mucky' look about her with or without her camera. He is obviously the sort of man who can't seem to find the perfect woman, well he seems to find them, but then they leave for pastures new. Well I can understand that, lovely scenery but not much else to do, except do unlawful things, like pimping, murder, arson etc. Thank goodness I live in the town. Anyway he is definately fanciable.

I thought she looked as if she had a dirty face! Lovely wee scar he had on his upper lip, eh? Aaaah! It finishes next week....sad

glammanana Fri 12-Aug-11 21:25:14

Yes she did look as though she had a dirty face maybe the make up had been put
on badly,in the interview with him in one of the magazines I think it said he had operation on his lip when he was a baby, just adds a bit more character I think,
if he has trouble finding the perfect woman I'm sure there are plenty of offers
available ? Get in an orderly line behind me please

What impresses me about this series, well impress is the wrong word, for such a lovely lovely man, he does have such a cold hearted stern Mother. Perhaps that is why he always looking for lurve. I wonder what he is like in 'real life'? he might be a right swine.

She looks 'calculating' doesn't she, his mum? I don't mean to do the actress an injustice, of course! hmm

glammanana Sat 13-Aug-11 18:15:20

I saw the interview last week on Good Morning and he came across as a
nice family man,he is married with 2 DCs and was very embarrassed as to the
sex symbol reference

greenmossgiel Sat 13-Aug-11 18:17:15

Aah, bless him! smile

glammanana Sat 13-Aug-11 23:43:04

Oh I'd do more than bless him green !

Hattie64 Sun 14-Aug-11 18:43:14

What do you mean Married!!! I was hoping that he was least divorced and looking for a new wife/lover - me.

glammanana Sun 14-Aug-11 20:17:51

Now then Hattie64 we don't want to have to call for pistol's at dawn do we?
surely we can come to some arrangement

glammanana Tue 16-Aug-11 22:57:07

glammanana Thu 18-Aug-11 20:19:48

greenmossgiel Thu 18-Aug-11 20:37:49

I'm poised ready, glammanana! Hope JessM remembers to find out what the TF stands for when she's on her holidays! grin

glammanana Thu 18-Aug-11 23:12:46

Didn't he do well? have to wait for new series now, knowing my luck they won't make one, probably end up with something that's years old now on Thursday's

greenmossgiel Fri 19-Aug-11 09:41:06

I know - DH gets so annoyed with me when he thinks he's found something on TV that I'll like (control/remote/control -if you get my meaning?), because I'll look up from my knitting -or laptop- and say, "Think we've seen this, have we not?"
Can't wait till next series - apart from enjoying the 'looks' of him, the scenery reminded me so much of Scotland's west coast. Lovely! smile

Update from the emerald isle!!
The single guard at Rosslare had WX on his shoulder (see i was on the look out the minute i landed), and he was of course standing there in County Wexford. I have not seen any others on foot to examine closely ...

Car reg numbers over here have the county ID in them which helps with nosiness (lots of people with Dublin number plates in town tonight... etc)
It seems to be the division of the Gardai to which they belong. Not yet managed to establish whether TF is a real or a mythical division, but i don't thing they are divided into counties because some of them so tiny it would not make sense. Like one town and about six villages seemed to sum up county Laois. 6 policemen does not division make.

If i see any more guards I will have a good look, trust me.

Hope you're having fun, jess!

greenmossgiel Tue 23-Aug-11 21:29:11

JessM you are a star, and so brave, looking at all those men in uniform....I look forward to hearing from you! Enjoy yourself! wink

glammanana Tue 23-Aug-11 22:00:30

Well done Jess having a good time I bet, when I lived in Spain on Tuesday's my pal and I used to go to the local market and when we had finished our shopping we went Guardia watching whilst they directed all the traffic out of the village,we alway's wondered if their uniform's where sprayed on

JessM Wed 24-Aug-11 11:09:05

Mmm the Aussie cops are pretty fit too.

yes i am having a good time thanks and trying not to put on any more weight...

JessM Fri 26-Aug-11 16:43:45

Female Guard on TV last night, she helped with an emergency home birth in county Offaly, FY plus numbers on her shoulder. I am leading v quiet life here in the riverbank so not a lot of police action... I am pleased to relate.
Of course if TF is made up it could be a joke as in "What TF is that...?"
Was Captain Pugwash's Master Bates a joke or what it an innocent mistake... will be ever know the truth?

greenmossgiel Fri 26-Aug-11 17:05:40

No, I think it was meant (I muttered darkly). The character Master Bates was probably thought of because the writer was reminded of someone he wasn't all that keen on and thought was a bit of a w....r! blush

glammanana Fri 26-Aug-11 22:58:11

Still thinking that TF will translate to TOTALLY FIT in glamma language

greenmossgiel Sat 27-Aug-11 10:43:49

And mine, too, glammanana! grin

JessM Sat 27-Aug-11 11:37:46

You are a lecherous bunch of grandmothers!
