Does anyone know what the TF stands for on the policeman's shoulder of his uniform? Is it an Irish 'Gaelic' abbreviation? It's been bugging DH for ages, and my answer of 'The Fuzz' didn't help...! confused

Totally Fit (he is defininatley the best cop on the TV at the moment)

He`s gorgeous, did you see him on The Wright Stuff the other day? His hair was longer and he had a beard, normally I don`t like facial fuzz, but on him...................Mmmmmmm!!
PS Greenmossgiel, sorry, I don`t know!

I had a boyfriend who looked just like him! I think that's why I like him....! Come on girls (and pompa and bunic!) what does it stand for? Haven't we got any Irish gransnetters who would know?

glammanana Sat 06-Aug-11 16:55:28

I saw him on Wright Stuff and the interview with Kate Garraway so was all
over him like a rash,so so unfair,by the way greenmossgiel I googled Garda
and could not find anything to help with your question sorry

glammanana - I tried Google as well. I'm sure there must be someone who knows though? I want to concentrate looking at him the next time he's on, not at his badge!!!

Totally Fit sounds about right ....doesn't smile a lot though !!!

I love 'Single Handed'........but I have to watch it with sub-titles. Maybe it is the soft spoken Irish but I can't catch everything they say (esp the bar owner).

OG is on an oxygen concentrator machine all the time ...so it is like having an extractor fan on constantly and we already have to have to TV volume quite loud...if I turned it up any more for 'Single Handed'...the adverts would blast the roof off if we didn't catch them in time.

Has no one come up with the answer yet? He is on again tonight I'll have to
watch closely and make sure I don't miss any thing,he is my guilty
pleasure at the moment,DH thinks I'm a bit "mid life crisis" but I don't
care, him on one side and Colin Firth on the other utter heaven

greenmossgiel Tue 09-Aug-11 19:30:27

glammana, I've just asked JessM to find out when she goes to Ireland for her holidays. Forgot he was on tonight - oh GOOD! grin

glammanana Tue 09-Aug-11 21:54:08

So so sorry greenmossgiel,he's not on until Thursday, I must have been having one of my blonde moments so sorryx,DH seem's to think it may
stand for Police Force in Gaelic, never know he may be right, lets wait and see

greenmossgiel Tue 09-Aug-11 21:56:39

I got all excited and told my DH that it was on tonight! He informed me that it was Thursday, though.....sad

Greenmossgiel, I`ve asked on another forum about TF, someone on there is the daughter of a retired policeman in Dublin, so hoping she can tell me, but it might be tomorrow before I hear, hope you can contain yourself till then?

Don`t suppose it could stand for something as simple as Task Force, could it? Just a thought.

ElseG Wed 10-Aug-11 07:12:57

It could just be the division letters by which his area is known. I agree he is rather cute blush

bunic Wed 10-Aug-11 11:21:27

I have it on good authority from my Irish policemen`s daughter friend, that TF is simply his regimental number, as there`s also a number after it. Something, I suppose, like our own PC49, anybody remember him, played by Brian Reece?

glammanana Fri 12-Aug-11 19:02:10

No but I remember Dixon of Dock Green ha-ha, he was my mum's favourite
