Amazon fire 8 tablet 32g

I brought the Amazon 7 inch fire tablet a couple of years ago mainly for downloading library books and for this it's great.

I don't really use it for much else, as I find the advertisements and recommendations somewhat annoying; and it's not great to read in sunlight making it somewhat useless to take away for an holiday in the sun.

Download Radio player from App Store.
There is no free Netflix on any device, I pay about £8 per month and it is on my tv and kindle, also my son "borrows" it as you are allowed two households on one subscription.
Ask family if they will let you "piggyback" on their Netflix Subscription but if not it's well worth about £2 per week.
You can also get some films free through Youtube and music.

You'll always have to subscribe to Amazon music. There are other free music apps like Spotify though.
I have downloaded Radio player which I listen to as I like to have Classic FM in my bedroom. It's very relaxing at night.

Hi, I am struggling with this still. I asked Alexa to play music, no, unless I join Amazon Prime. Then it seemed to say I could use Netflix, again no as I am not a member. It is all more subscriptions wanted.

I have my library access. And Email but not Gransnet yet as I can't remember my password and it hasn't sent me a new one in spite of me emailing.

I am rather underwhelmed at the moment.

You'll love it once you get used to it. I carry mine about with me in my handbag when I go to my Dd's to look after Dgc and it always comes abroad with me.
There are Apps for practically anything you can think of, just use the search icon.

I'm on my 3rd Kindle, I have the 7" Kindle Fire HD.
I use mine as a lap top and can't remember the last time I bothered to get my lap top out.
I have the library App on it and you can download the audio books, used with earphones, very relaxing.
Use it for, emails, online banking, music, Netflix, radio, Gransnet, online newspaper.
Would be easier to tell you what I don't use it for.
You can go in the App Store and download free Note Books for recipes etc.
I would recommend a Kindle!

DH has an 8" kindle fire hd. He uses it for reading, listening to audio books, online banking, and not much else. He likes his.
i have a 7" kindle fire hd. I don't use it to read on very often although I do occasionally but a book. I use mine as a regular tablet but it is a bit small. I don't watch films on it, but I listen to music having downloaded the radio player app. I also have three games on it, scrabble, sudoku and Patience.
The more you use it, the more useful it becomes.

We have an Alexa, you don't have to buy things to make it useful. We use it for listening to the radio, for music, traffic information, weather, general amusement - she'll look up things on Wikipedia for you etc.

Thanks Moira, yes I'd read that it is slow on google, you have to download a google app. It's slow apparently partly due to Alexa! I have a smart phone. Just unsure.

If you are a library member you can use overdrive, on library web site, to borrow online free. After 3 weeks it is automatically returned, so no fines. I think you can borrow audio books too.

I have a kindle fire and never use it for buying stuff - I use my laptop for that. I don't play games or watch films either.
It's good for reading books and I no longer use my normal kindle. I do use it to google things though it is slow for that. I haven't downloaded library books but it's useful that you can do that.
I would definitely keep it.
