So many fabulous ideas. I might go bankrupt on handwash now.

Since I downloaded the Yuka app, I zap the bar codes of all soaps, shampoos and conditioners before I buy. It tells you, going on their ingredients, what's Excellent, Good, Poor or Bad. A real eye opener.

Alteya Rose or Faith in Nature - both organic. As we probably wash our hands more often than anywhere else on our bodies it's important to me not to put chemicals on them. An organic soap that's not full of stuff that makes it foam, preserves its life or gives it an unnatural colour is the answer.

L’Occitane handwash for me, refilled from their recycled pouches. I like the lavender in bathrooms and citrus is the kitchen.

Another vote for Lidl the bergamot and orange smells lovely

I've started using Lidl's Cien dupe of the Molton Brown handwashes. My husband bought for himself the Aromatic Handwash which is lovely, although he actually didn't like it so I used it instead. They're not expensive and smell amazing.

I was going to suggest the Lidl ones. I love the Ginger Lily one.

and I love the Lavender one. Such a big bottle for the price -it lasts for ages and the fragrance remains true to the end.

I think you very much get what you pay for, especially if you want the scent to last - Aesop is lovely but pricey, Scottish Fine Soaps (?) Sea Kelp also lovely and considerably cheaper.

We are fans of Aesop too and always add it to ‘gift lists’ for Xmas etc. It is expensive but bottle has 500 ml and it is so concentrated that you need very little. And the smell really lasts.

'Next' do a lovely scented one in a pink container. It's called 'Just Pink' and smells lovely. It's £6 I think. Lasts for ages.

Yes thats lovely. The perfume is nice too.

I use Baylis & Harding. £2.25 for 500ml in Sainsburys but most supermarkets sell it. It doesn't make your hands dry and they have a lovely range of fragrances.

Neil’s yard hand wash is beautiful, the aroma lingers. I first found it in a 4 star hotel and have purchased it ever since. You won’t be disappointed.

I use the M&S Apothecary pump soaps - they smell divine - you can also get hand lotions too.

TK Maxx is my go to, they have all kinds of high end hand wash at significant mark down prices

We have soap dispensers in all bathrooms and cloakroom and I, like others, top them up. Believe it or not one of the nicest is the honey one from Astonish which I buy for £1 in Poundland. Nice fragrance and leaves hands smelling nice, plus softening.

I find that even the ridiculously expensive handwashes (I recently paid £19 for one that sounded good) suffer from the problem that the scent, however strong and natural at first, begins fading away almost as soon as you break the seal and start using the stuff. I also recently had an expensive gel handwash – sorry, can’t now remember the name – that had turned to water by the time I (quite quickly) got to the bottom of it. Possibly most reliable, in my eperience, is the Faith in Nature citrus handwash, which seems to sell out faster than their others.

I’ve got ceramic liquid soap dispensers, and buy the 1 litre refills from French Soaps. They aren’t the cheapest, but they last ages and smell wonderful so it’s money well spent, and visitors always comment how nice they smell. I’ve got a seaside and citrus smelling one at the moment, but they do all sorts.
