How do I grow my Hair?

To grow your hair long you need patience. Remember also that your hair is renewing all the time as it grows so you have different lengths. Having frizzy curly hair like I have makes it more noticeable.Hair grows at roughly half an inch a month. I have very long hair, for me it is so easy to manage. If it’s hot I take it up, leave down if it’s cold. I have it trimmed 2 monthly,wash weekly and condition,have a conditioning treatment monthly. Have fine hair but plenty of it.You need to find out what works for you, ask your hairdresser for advice.

Kate1949 my dear friend is losing her hair despite seeing private consultants and spending £££.

It has really knocked her confidence in all things.

Like you say, until you have experienced it, you just do not know 😘

I keep trying to grow it but run out of patience when it reaches that in between stage when it never seems to move.
I reckon you need poodles of patience plus a year.

Oh yes MissA I've had that one. When I was upset at work one day over my hair, a woman with very thick hair said 'Oh for goodness sake it's only hair'. Until it happens to her of course.

I've some hair; enough to pass whole days trying different treatments, styles, powders, fibres.

It is depressing, and then people say "Well, you always had fine hair anyway" as if that makes it better somehow.

For a woman, life without hair is tough.

I grew mine from a shaved at the sides, spikey "flat top" style into a bob.

I just concentrated on the sides, and grew them down, with regular trims.
Before long (pardon the pun) the sides were a very short, 60s style bob, so I wore headbands and slides, and then the back grew down to even up the style.

Then I tied it up, never styled it again, and started to go bald a couple of years ago.

So that was the end of that problem.

I did enjoy the growing out process, though, using pretty slides, and berets and things.

Yes please donate. I have alopecia (no hair). I am very familiar with The Little Princess Trust. If you are lucky enough to have lovely long hair and cut it. Please donate it.

Great idea to do that. If I ever grow my hair again the I will donate my hair too.

Oh. Goodness, I ve always had waist length natural blonde hair but decided it wasn’t a good look to have in my seventies. Then COVID arrived and I had to rely on husband to trim my hair with scissors bought from Amazon. Quite a good job he did but time for a professional cut now.

Shanksy - I did the same over lockdown,mine didn't quite get to waist length but well on its way - had it cut really short 3 years ago & sent 3 long plaits to the Little Princess Trust. (They accept coloured hair as long as it's permanent colour.)

I got my haircut short in an urchin cut before lockdown then just let it grow over the next few years… no hairdresser… during lockdown every stage without a haircut each stage was lovely even when I got it to waist length beautiful with waves….then I cut it all off 😁

I did mine during lockdown as well. Took about a year but saved a fortune on hairdressing bills as I didn’t go.The unruly bits which kept flapping in my eyes I knitted some head bands for and bought some cloth handybands from Seasalt. Now I wear them round my neck and put them up to hold back my hair as the occasion arises.

Love those bands. I always have one in my coat pocket, so versatile.

CoolCoco, you should communicate with your hairdresser that you are growing it out, and they will guide you along. She may trim the sides while the back grows to the same length, then just keep it tidy with tiny trims while you let it grow.

I tend to go from quite short to shoulder length every few years, and I always have a good cut at all stages.

I take zinc as my levels were low , eye lashes are definitely longer. I know it’s not head but it’s still hair . It may speed the growth so u end plan is achieved soon

I’ve grown mine over the last 12/18months from short . Changed hairdressers coz I was getting into one of those ruts ( hairdresser cutting it the same whatever i said) . Had it trimmed every 6/8 weeks and i can now tie it back for the gym , housework etc and i love it!

I had my medium length hair cut short 18 months ago.

I decided six months ago that I really couldn’t be bothered with the faff of styling it most mornings. I missed not being able to put it up for the gym, swimming, on holiday or just on a bad hair day

I spoke to my hairdresser and I am growing it into a long bob. I have it trimmed every 6-8 weeks to keep it tidy and not look too bad, so far so good.

I grew mine during lockdown, so just pinned up unruly bits. Took the opportunity to grow out the colour too.
You'll need to let the back grow out so regular trims of the front will be needed.
A good hairdresser will be able to guide you.
