Are you a jacket person?

I loathe wearing jackets and coats and only do so under pressure. I also never wear tights or shirts with long sleeves/buttons.

I am a diamond- quilted light indoor jacket person who wants an upper garment that slides on and off easily over shirts and jumpers when required and is easy to wash and dry.

I’m not keen on the look of ‘tailored’ jackets / blazers - I always feel too dressed up / slightly uncomfortable. But I have a very soft denim jacket that I wear a lot and find really useful. I also like more unstructured linen jackets (“Made in Italy” type)

I no longer wear tailored jackets, but like denim ones, and something fleecy to keep me warm in winter.

I used to have a school job where jackets were required to be worn in assembly. We used to keep a selection of previously loved goes with everything jackets in the department, so us non-jacket wearers could conform to the rules.

I don’t like jackets or coats, preferring cardigans and body warmers. I hate the feel of long sleeves around my wrists and always push up shirts, cardigans etc.
I don’t feel the cold, I don’t like to be bundled up, especially when driving and only wear a warm coat to football in the winter, often taking it off!

I used to love my smart Navy overlapping Blazer (remember them?) with goldy buttons. Everyone liked it on me - they made my jeans look smart .

I have noticed since the Covid lockdown that more and more people are going out casually dressed in hoodies or body warmers (gilets). I always used to go out in a smart jacket and trousers but now I feel out of place and too dressed up. If I am going to an indoor shopping centre I will just wear a blouse/jumper and trousers as I park the car not too far from the entrance. Luckily I do not feel the cold very much and hate to be bundled up inside stores.

I think the era of smart jackets and lovely coats has gone unless I was going to a wedding etc. I would then get dressed up.

I used to have one as well, I think it was in the 80's, the Diana era but we did look smart.

When I worked I always wore a jacket, I felt it gave the right professional signals, although the jackets were not stuffy dark colours . I also had a large collection of brooches to wear on the lapels.
I like a casual jacket as well, I have several leather, quilted and linen jackets.

I have gone almost 100% with knitwear and trousers, with a hooded parka or fancy gillet for inclement days.
Knitwear is so easy to fit; it is warm too.
I have also gone all out for the lightly padded kimono style jackets from the East.
Big shirts for summer,
Feel very overdressed these days in tailored smart coats.

Occasionally they are useful as I think they 'pull an outfit together'.
I wore one to a funeral recently with softish trousers and a plain top, but it was a semi-casual jacket, not a buttoned up one.

I had a black one, long gone to the charity shop. It was fine wool with gold buttons.

I like my denim jacket but have noticed how many of us ‘ladies of a certain age’ are wearing them. Ditto white trainers! I expect the younger demographic will ditch them both soon as ‘uncool’.

Not really a jacket person here - if the weather's reasonable, I'd go without, then when it gets a bit cooler (or wetter), I'd put on a coat. Curious as to what a 'light indoor jacket' is, though?

Long fleece for cooler days and a warm parka type coat for when it’s baltic. I’ve got a lovely, smart jacket in pink from my working days, it really must go, I haven’t worn it for about ten years, it’s the only formal item I have.

They’re out of fashion now. Three years ago I would wear a navy tailored jacket with a crisp white shirt, jeans and trainers. You hardly ever see anyone dressed like that now.

I’ll hang on to my jackets though just in case they come back in again, 😂

Hah! I’m going out for lunch wearing navy wide leg trousers, bluebell fitted tshirt, white trainers and a softly tailored pale blush pink long line blazer .

Baubles that sounds lovely. And, having met you, I know you will look great. Sadly I'm short and round. Weeble shaped. I don't look good in tailored clothes

Vogue is full of Autumnal jackets, so I don’t think they’re going out of fashion. The navel blazer with gold buttons, perhaps.

Sorry I am one of the denim jacket brigade and I love mine. I hate “big” coats and feel frumpy. Being little and fat doesn’t help!

Just bought a midi 'shacket' for emergency city/wedding/funeral outings. I hate wearing coats and jackets generally. I have a nice denim one hanging on the coatrack in the hall - it's been there, unworn, for a few years now.

I was thinking more of blazer type jackets than out door jackets.

I bought a pink linen one for the summer in the hope that I would transform into an elegant female. It still has the tags on. I did think I might wear it to a recent funeral. I didn't. I find them quite restricting.

I have to admit - elegance isn't me!

Definitely in the Diana era - I had black, navy, purple and pink!
Now I have Barbour quilted jackets if I need an extra layer.
