I’m fancying a pair of biker boots. I’m 65 and maybe too old to rock this style! What do you think? The pair I fancy are Gabor ones!

Just checked a few "biker boots" sites as I was mystified about how what I consider biker boots would be worn. Nothing like what I consider a biker boot. Trousers or any leg covering was always inside the boot for safety (no flapping material to catch on anything) and warmth. Thick sole and secure fastenings. Realised I have been wearing the modern fashion of biker boot for a few years now. Go for a pair if you fancy them.

I have got Biker boots and a leather jacket to go with them - no motorbike though sadly!

Okay, stop worrying. I'm 73 and I will never conform to the stereotypical granny. Get your biker boots. If you're worried about how to style them check out instagram posts.

I'd say go for It, but make sure you're outfit matches

Spangler, those look like Chelsea boots.

Parsley3 Mon 02-Nov-20 10:46:44

Definitely Chelsea boots. I have a pair. Am going to look at biker boots now though.

Go for it!. I've had some grey ones for years, although I did remove some of the chains as they rattled when I walk.

jaylucy Mon 02-Nov-20 10:51:18

Just go for it!
I bet as well as warm, they will be comfy.
Gone are the days when you are expected to wear the flat ones with fur round the top if you are over about 50 !

I have had a pair of biker boots for a long time I wear them with skinny jeans or jeggings,my DD even wears hers with long summer dresses which seems to be very trendy with the younger ones.

I’m 64 and I wear biker boots they go lovely with lots of things, go for it, since turning 60 within reason if I like something and it doesn’t make me look like mutton dressed as lamb I wear it.

I suggest you read that poem which begins "When I am old shall wear purple" and then go out and buy whatever you like but what are biker boots?

Heatherbell1 Mon 02-Nov-20 10:55:35

I have the real thing to go with the rest of the gear & bike. I’m 65 in a couple of months. Pillion not the rider . ?

PollyDolly Mon 02-Nov-20 10:58:12

I'm in my late 60 and just last week bought a fabulous pair of boots. They're along the line of Dr Martens but have a zip on the inner leg part as well as lacing up the front. Coming snug up to mid calf I wore them with a skirt and opaque tights and they look just as good with leggings, and I felt like a millions dollars! Go for it Crisks!

You are never too old to wear something you fancy. Who cares what anyone else thinks anyway. Go for it!!

Sarnia Mon 02-Nov-20 11:11:32

Do exactly what you want. There are enough restrictions at the moment.

We had a great big Harley Davidson, but that was thirty years ago.

Mamma7 Mon 02-Nov-20 11:39:16

I’ve got a few pairs - latest ones are studded too, rock on!! ?

Stella14 Mon 02-Nov-20 11:41:23

Absolutely not. Older women look fabulous in biker boots and high fashion. The only looks that for me look bad are short skirts and/or very low cut tops.

trisher Mon 02-Nov-20 11:42:52

I've had a pair for a few years. They have studs and straps. Love them but they are getting a bit worn I need new ones!!!

Scottiebear Mon 02-Nov-20 11:54:07

I'm 65 and I wear biker boots. They look lovely with skinny jeans or winter leggings with long tops. I think as we get older we can still wear most things other than low cut tops and short skirts. There are ways of dressing fashionably, but still tastefully. Age doesn't have to totally define our fashion.

Theoddbird Mon 02-Nov-20 12:03:05

Buy and enjoy

mancgirl Mon 02-Nov-20 12:11:30

Buy them and enjoy them. I have a pair of what I call biker boots and wore them constantly last winter with skinny jeans. If I can wear summer dresses with white trainers or pumps this summer, biker boots are just fine. As said above, too many rules and regs in place!

icanhandthemback Mon 02-Nov-20 12:13:13

I wear my Doc Martens with pride. I am lucky that I can also fit into the children's ones so I have a patent leather red pair and a purple pair. My favourite ones are these paired up with black skinny jeans which have the same roses on the thigh.
When I was younger, I wouldn't have had the confidence to wear anything that might draw attention. I am making up for it now. I don't tend to wear mini-skirts, my low cut tops are decent enough to be worn in front of the Pope and I make most of my statements with bright patterns or unusual stuff. It isn't about being an extrovert or shouting, "Look at me," it is about brightening up my life with colour.

HannahLoisLuke Mon 02-Nov-20 12:18:26

Spangler, the boots in the photo aren't biker boots. In fact they look more like the jodhpur boots I wore for riding.
Biker boots are much chunkier and "manly"
