Moisturiser recommendations, please

I have to be really careful what I put on my skin, certain products doesn't matter how expensive they are bring me out in a rash.

I use Boots no7 Hypo allergenic moisturizer. normal to dry.

Don't rely on the suncream in moisturizers is my advice it will never be a high enough factor.

I use Sun cream factor 50 hypo allergenic Garnier Ambre Solaire for kids.

E45 after bath and as an after sun cream.

I have tried many products over the years and have wasted money so stick to what I know works for me.

I've had great luck with coco butter and bio oil, But Bio Oil is best for the face because it has a bunch of different natural oils that your skin loves and can work with to heal itself. I put it on my face before I go to bed it keeps my skin moisturized. It's a bit more than I like to spend (which is over a fiver) but its less than a tenner and lasts forever. You could also try www.mybeautymatches.com, which recommends products based on your personal needs. It makes you take a mini quiz to find out what type of skin, hair, other issues you might have. I don't know whether animal testing is an issue that is important to you *notnecessarilywiser' but if so, look carefully at the products you buy and don't be misled by the 2013 EU ban on animal testing of cosmetics. The issue is a lot more complicated than that. Ariadne's suggestion of Neal's Yard is a good one as their products are not only good, organic, smell beautiful, but also genuinely cruelty free. I'm afraid L'Oreal is one of the worst offenders.

I use garnier moisture protect +, it rubs in well and not greasy and has spf20. Its cheap at under a fiver but until I find something better I will use it. I use no7 night cream that's good too bit more expensive but I get it bought for pressies

I mix moisturiser and sun block cream together just to ensure it is an actual sun block and not another grade of sun cream.

I wonder if anyone has found a moisturiser with good sun protection. I've been using a Body Shop one in recent summers, but since I discovered their connection with Nestlé, I would prefer to find another brand.

Did anyone see the repeat of an Alice Roberts programme about the food that we buy and eat. It showed a group of people that added to their diet peppers and carrots for 6 weeks and they showed before and after photos along with doing scientific tests on their skin and the result was quite dramatic. Their skin actually glowed.

If I need a moisturiser boost I use Clarins Flash Balm £28 for a few days then back on to the Vital Light (Clarins) £50. Liz Earle has one called Superskin Concentrate which works well with their cleanser I have recommended on another thread - its aboot £25 - cheaper than Clarins!

Try a few drops of Rose Hip Oil by Trilogy before applying your preferred moisturiser - in my case, good old Nivea Q10. I have fairly recently discovered this and am finding the results good ......my face is becoming as soft as the proverbial baby's bottom

Yes Tegan the Clinique moisturiser is the yellow stuff and although I try other cheaper moisturisers, I always go back to it in the end.

Elizabeth Arden ceramide capsules (just use half each time and cheaper at T J Hughes) and day cream, just night cream though after cleansing. I have used it for years and years, pricey but well worth it.

Liz Earle Skin Repair Moisturiser, available from her web site or John Lewis stores. It isn't the cheapest, nor the most expensive, but it does last a long time and makes my skin softer.

Oh yes Tegan I make everything last right until the bitter end and have found a good use for those little plastic bags in which buttons are often found attached to knitwear. I cut the end of the sachet or tube and force the end into one of those little bags. I often get another few days from the product.

Is that the yellow stuff? I've had free samples of that in the past and it's lovely. Have you noticed that, as you get towards the end, you eek it out and make it last for ages!

I use Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion+ although it is pricey about £30 region it lasts for about 9 months. It is like am emulsion when it goes on and you only need a small amount.

Garnier is good - and it is often half price on Tesco's website - I just wait for it to be on offer and get one in!

If you like a chemical free moisturiser then Allergenics is brilliant! It's very reasonably priced - about £5.00 for 50ml, but you can get 100ml tube as well, which is about £9.00. My skin is very sensitive, so this is really good for me. It's very gentle and doesn't leave your skin feeling greasy. They also do an ointment, which is richer than the cream.

Neal's Yard intense frankincense moisturiser - it is a bit pricy but absolutely superb!

I use Clinique Superdefense moisturiser. It's pricey but a little goes a very long way (a pot lasts me 5-6 months) and I love it.
My DD has very sensitive skin and swears by it - she buys sample pots size on eBay.
