This looks like a great idea!

In addition, there will also be a full no-spoiler re-run of the game on BBC Two from 07:10 BST, while a full re-run will be available on demand on BBC iPlayer immediately after the match.

This was announced on the radio this morning.

Good

Sounds like a good idea. Mind you, anyone wanting to watch later with no spoilers will have to avoid all news programmes, not talk to anyone in case they let it slip, etc.

It reminds me of the Whatever Happened To The Likely Lads? episode 'No Hiding Place' where they spend the day trying to avoid the result of an England match. ๐Ÿ˜

That's really good. However, as I'm in a hotel in Liverpool at the moment I shall need double earplugs to not hear raucous cheers or groans from the nearby pubs before I can get as far as 7am. ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Great if only I had a license to watch it. Oh well!

This is what is making me think I will watch the match live.
I wouldnt even trust my DH not to let something slip.

Oh I can, on holiday.
The hotel has been showing all the matches, so might watch the rerun in the morning ๐Ÿด๓ ง๓ ข๓ ฅ๓ ฎ๓ ง๓ ฟ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿป

Yes, that was the first thing that I thought of! ๐Ÿ˜†

I'm gonna watch in the morning on iPlayer. Will get up and go straight on there. Hopefully will miss spoilers, mustn't look at my phone, answer it. And earplugs tonight ๐Ÿ˜Š

We decided yesterday to do this โ€˜stay up or get upโ€™ promotion from the BBC. TV will be on BBC2 tonight before we go to bed, no phone, iPad, Alexa or any other media from getting up at 6:50 7ntil game over.

The BBC should show that on prime time tv!

If I remember correctly, that match was cancelled! Hope its not an omen as there was talk of a thunderstorm!

Well, it was cancelled due to a waterlogged pitch.

On the bright side, England are playing Mexico not Bulgaria.

Woohoo

Am I missing something as why was all this palaver about the kids staying up etc to watch the match when I noticed, not being a football fan, only this morning it was the quarter final. not the final as I predicted. I can understand the BBC asking kids if they were going to stay up for the final but not the quarter final which we have reached more than once before.

LauraNorderr Mon 06-Jul-26 07:53:58

Maybe there is no confidence in us reaching the final Cath9 so letโ€™s go with enjoy it while we can. Why not.

MayBee70 Mon 06-Jul-26 07:59:01

I donโ€™t know if itโ€™s the same in other parts of the country but both my grandson and granddaughter ( both still at primary school) are keen footballers and itโ€™s all very well organised with ex professional footballers involved. It was never like that in their parents day.

Thank goodness for you Cath9.

I'm no football fan and I also thought all this fuss about not going to school must mean it's at least the semi-final. (Can't imagine my parents letting me miss even half an hour of school for a football match - or the school even giving it a thought).

I certainly don't deny others the right to enjoy and participate, but we're not even at the quarter finals yet! It's a bit over the top.

I predict that soon, the whole country will come to a halt when Little Puddlestone U11's reach the second round of the inter primary schools championship. grin

We watched it when we got up.
BBC news didn't even send a newsflash to my phone . Unfortunately the spoiler came when our nearby city centre erupted into song at 4am.

I watched at 7 am on bbc2. What a game ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ‘๐ŸŒž
