Paralympics

I am finding it hard to actually see any of the events on CH4. It is mostly pundits commentating on what either has happened or is about to happen. Say less and let us see a full competition. I will try YouTube, NanKate.

I kind of feel bad that the Paralympics are not very popular, considering there are some athletes with real heart and dedication in those competitions, since this is almost all they can do.

CH4 have been rubbish, so I downloaded the YouTube app and voila I get a variety of sports.

The paralympics a wonderful show of human endeavour over adversity. Much more compelling to watch, but cringe when wheelchairs crash, so awfull for those athletes. Many years ago as a trainee nurse at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, was privileged to watch the original wheel chair games, and got to know Sir Ludig Gutman who devised them. He would have been so proud to see how far they've gone. I see that from now on, the Paralymic flame will always start at Stoke Mandeville, a fitting tribute to a great man.

There's TV coverage on You Tube, if you go through the hoops necessary to access it. Turn on Channel 4 and you're likely to find five minutes of advertising and even more of 'talking heads' some of whom don't know much about Paralympics - Rose, for instance, has to be informed about just about everything.

So many inspirational athletes here. I'm really enjoying it. What I especially like is that many countries who never have the chance to get medals in the able-Olympics get on the podium here.
I think we should be incredibly proud of our British para-Olympians who are doing so well!
The TV coverage should be much more high profile though...I ask people if they're watching and it's usually a 'no, not really,' we still have a long way to go to reach some kind of parity.

I find the Paralympics both inspirational and humbling. Team GB are doing brilliantly at the moment. Poppy Maskill made me smile when she was asked if she'd had a game plan for her 100m butterfly final. She replied that she had just swum as fast as she could. And how. The gold medal and a new world record!

Much better than the previous opening ceremony, but very long and I agree that the ad breaks are annoying.

Bit long drawn out and hate the ad breaks. Looking forward to the sport though.
